5.0 out of 5 stars He really puts it on you!
Jim Rohn is one of the few motivational speakers who doesn't just tell stories about other people. 3.0 out of 5 stars Good stuff, just like every other motivational book
Basically your attitude determines your altitude. Learn everything you can. Nothing new, but nothing bad. As someone else said it gets a little repetitive. Not a bad way to kill a drive. Much better than "The Secret".

5.0 out of 5 stars He really puts it on you!, May 17, 1998

Jim Rohn is one of the few motivational speakers who doesn't just tell stories about other people. I have listened to many others, including the self promoting Tony Robbins and they all seem to tell the same stories. How can the same things happen to all of them? Jim Rohn actually tells you what to do to lead a successful life and then "puts it on you" to be successful. For instance "How many books have you read in the last 6 months, for your future and fortune?". None? "Who sold you on that plan?" "Work harder on yourself than you do on your job!"

I really like the speech of Jim, it keeps your attention focused on the tapes, preventing drifting off. I highly recommend this tape series over any I have listened to (and I have listened to many).

5.0 out of 5 stars A deeply thought-provoking message for a better life, September 6, 1999
By A Customer
Get past the poor editing, ignore the Americanisms, hear through the hype, and you can capture the essence of his crystal-clear message. Given in a no-nonsense, down-to earth manner, Jim Rohn's 'sermon' reaches within you and makes you wonder just why this brilliantly simple philosophy of life isn't taken up by all. His principles are faultless, timeless and certainly inspiring ... as well as sobering. I listened to a different version of this tape 8 years ago but ignored it then ... I'm one of his 'warning' stories he talks about; this time, his message has finally sank through. If you, like me, have found the years have flown by and the results have been meagre so far, there's no better place to start changing this than by listening, and acting upon, Jim Rohn's advice.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great introduction to Jim Rohn, December 26, 2004
This work was my first foray into the world of Jim Rohn. I decided to check him out after learning that Anthony Robbins cut his teeth in Rohn's seminar business.

The only reason I gave this a 4 instead of a 5 is because this really is more of an introductory taste of the "You control your destiny" kind of work. It looks like his other works are more specific. This would be a great gift for someone who has never checked out a self-help book or audiotape, and I believe it would especially appeal to the younger set (20's & 30's).

I had no idea what to expect regarding Rohn's delivery style, and I must say he's a delight to listen to. His voice has an unusual cadence that makes listening to him particularly fun.

I plan on checking out Rohn's other works soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical and Inspiring, September 15, 1999
Jim Rohn teaches daily living skills that enable the reader to easily apply the teachings presented on this tape. He reminds us that a well rounded life includes a variety of experiences and foundations of knowledge that help people to live a practical and inspirational life. -- Samuel Oliver, author of, WHAT THE DYING TEACH US: LESSONS ON LIVING.

5.0 out of 5 stars Is it good? Of Courssssse!, April 25, 2008
No matter who you want to talk about in the self improvement/motivation game, Jack Canfield, Zig Zigler, Andy Andrews, Brian Tracy, Anthony Robbins, Dale Carnegie, Stephen Covey, you name it, the message is pretty much the same. That is, some derivative of the timeless lessons of Napoleon Hill. The only real difference to speak of is in the delivery. The better the speaker delivers his message, the more they connect with the listener, the more you will glean from the message.

Jim Rohn is one of the best at delivering his message. I would rate him at the very top along with Andy Andrews, but I suppose everyone has certain things they relate well to. THE ART OF EXCEPTIONAL LIVING is one of my favorite CD's. I didn't realize until I starting writing this review that what I have is the 2-CD abridged version. There is also a 6-CD version.

Reading is my thing. I try to read a couple of book per week, but you can't always do that. This is a fantastic CD set to listen to on your way to the office. It seems like every time I listen to this on my way in, I get more done that day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Basic Ideas for Success that we ignore, April 8, 2000
By A Customer
Some people hear this advice and ignore it, some hear it and say I'm going to change my life. Jim is one of the few motivational speakers that tell you how to achieve your goals, not how someone else did. All of his ideas are basic common sense, as he says there are no new fundamentals.... Everyone should listen to this tape over and over again.

5.0 out of 5 stars The first tape set you should buy, December 6, 2000
One day I heard someone say "You haven't even TRIED to develop yourself if you haven't heard Jim Rohn." I'd been hearing about him for years, but that day I actually drove down to the bookstore and got this tape set. I would put this in the top two or three books or tapes that have actually made a huge lasting difference in my life. This is one of the tightest, best thought out, most immediately useful tape sets I have ever heard.

I mentor exceptionally motivated and ambitious college students, and this is the first tape set I always give them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jim Rohn's strategies really will change your life!, June 19, 1998
I have the six cassette version of the Exceptional Art Of Living and have listened to them well over 20 times in the 2 years that I have had them. Jim's messages, analogies and strategies really hit home. If you are looking for real positive change in your life then here's the spark to the flame. As a personal development specialist I have listened to and read many self-help philosopher's and I have yet to find anyone as powerfully helpful as Jim. His best advice which I actioned immediately and have not looked back since is to "learn to work harder on yourself than you do on your job." I really can't recommend Jim's work enough. Thanks Jim.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST TAPE SET, PERIOD!, June 1, 2004
Not sure who the one star rater is but I can be he is "broke and embarrassed" listening to Tony Robbins but not Jim Rohn. Repetition is the root of all true learning. I will agree that Brian Tracy ranks right up there with the best but Tony is a waste of time and money. Jim Rohn not only tells you to start a library, he recommends the books to start with. My advice to Mister one star, get a job at Mcdonalds and whistle while you wear the hat, you may make $6/hr. I have over 200 tape series in my corporate library and I clearly rank this as one of the best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well, I'm Motivated!, July 17, 1997
By A Customer
I work for the Audio Editions catalog of books on cassette, so I have sample copies of most self-help tapes available to me. I've listened to a lot of tapes by people like Anthony Robbins, and they're good, but Jim Rohn's tape has blown me away. I've listened to this 2-cass tape about 15 time over the last 3 weeks, and I'm still excited...I'm here at Amazon to check what other Jim Rohn materials are available.
