2.0 out of 5 stars Stripping for Morons w/horrible excessive/drowning camerawork, June 26, 2006
This review is from: The Art of Exotic Dancing for Everyday Women: "DEVELOP YOUR ROUTINE" (DVD)
First off is an annoying 45 second intro before the menu that you cannot fst fwd through at all. Even from the extras or chapter search, every time you hit menu, you're stuck.
INTRO 4 min: w/Leah, the author/producer, giving the usual marketing spiel & how the dvd is constructed w/her teaching one of the basic students, SUZY, a recap of the core moves, to put a routine together & then 2 of the class teachers, Coralissa & Molly & their story showing you their style.
CORE MOVES 3 min: recap of: walking (step, drag, step..) eye contact (confidence is key), hip rolls (reg, revolving/turning, while squatting, while kneeling, floor work (poses/transitions of arching your back, lowering your legs, stretching around)
MEET SUZY: 2 min.
TRANSITIONAL MOVES: 6 min of 1: hands: using hands to back/forth toward person, raise hands, hands to hips, hands to knees, hands all over your body. 2 & 3: Strike a pose, throw head around, tilting your head 4: Posing - your hands on yourself lead their eyes. 5: crawling on the ground
SUZY 2 min: more about Suzy
THE LESSON 14 min.: choose music you like, walking (FOUR MIN), hip rolls, model or 3 step turn, kneeling hip roll & spreading & closing knees, some floor work, which shoes, not much else.
HER ROUTINE 4 min: watching SUZY try her best, but the camera is all over the place trying to make her look better
CORALISSA 13 min: her talking (she's a prof. dancer) & distracting camera effects for 7 min. then her dancing for 3 min the routine w/such moves as lifting her leg over her head while standing (where do we learn that? HAH!). She's good, but athletic, complex moves always look good. 3 more min of her giving more tips on attire, music.
MOLLY 7 min: 5 min of her taking & excessive camera work & 2 min of dance. There's a bonus of transition moves taught by Molly such as, "Oh, look a wall or pole to slide down it.. hey watch out for SPLINTERS!!! Oh, you can do hip circles to it..."
This makes a total of 59 min including all the excessive talking, just like the first one. This DVD could have easily been condensed to 20-30 min which would have hit home better like a real class.
The extra special camera effects & camera moving here, there & everywhere was VERY distracting & kept you from seeing. Maybe to cover up for lack of content & even somewhat boring dancing from the "experts," ehhhh???
Only buy this if you are VERY shy & need woman talking & reiterating the same thing over & over & over & OVER & OVER again in a drawn out fashion.

Try something more sensual like "Art of Sensual Dance" by Susan Breemer, or more fun & more aerobics like Jeff Costa's Cardio Striptease (Either of his 2 dvds), Carmen Electra's aerobic striptease (Disc 1 is best), Urban Striptease Aerobics (Disc 1 has better moves), or Felinity: First Step.

1.0 out of 5 stars If you loved the first video, skip this one., June 20, 2006
This review is from: The Art of Exotic Dancing for Everyday Women: "DEVELOP YOUR ROUTINE" (DVD)
The first video was terrific. Laurie Conrad is great. She is not in this video. This one is done by the woman who owns the company. I'm sure she's a great businesswoman. She is not a great dancer, and she is not a great teacher. And you will learn very, very little you didn't learn in the first video, just a two-minute segment on one or two things you can do with your hands. My best recommendation would be to move on to dancing with some music you like. If you want another video, pick something else.

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of Money, August 12, 2006
This review is from: The Art of Exotic Dancing for Everyday Women: "DEVELOP YOUR ROUTINE" (DVD)
Not worth the money or your time. You will learn more by watching "True Lies" or any other movie featuring exotic dancing. The video is poorly done and the camera angles jump around too much. But if like being disappointed, then by all means, buy this video.
