This is an exquisite book. I am sometimes baffled, dismayed or intimidated by some of the books of the altered art genre. All of the projects are quite beautiful and doable by both the neophyte and experienced. You can recreate the exact project based on the extensive directions or use the creations as a stepping stone for your own heritage creations.

Catherine Matthews-scanlon takes ordinary everyday items and turns them into inspiring pieces of art. What a wonderful way to display family images and momentos in 3-D creations to adorn your home! Easy to follow directions and great eye-candy too. This book will give you lots of creative ideas and inspiration to take ordinary items and turn them into your own fantastic pieces of personal art.

If you love altered art or just new to it, you will love this book.

Great and EASY instructions and wonderful ideas for altering things you can use. Highly recommend this book.

An amazing book of projects, pictures and supply lists. I love altered art and this book is one that I treasure among my favorites!

I borrowed this book from a friend and am now ordering my own copy. I look forward to referencing it as I create my own art. Ms. Scanlon makes the greatest pieces. I enjoy watching her blog, reading her first book Sewing on Paper and now she has taken it to a new level with Art from the heart. I hope to see more sewing on projects in the future. Maybe an option for her next book?

Fantastic book! This book is very inspiring and informative. The photography is excellent and the instructions easy to follow and understand. I can't wait to try out more of her ideas!

While this book is interesting and it evinces Ms. Matthew's creative soul behind the work, I found the book to be very small (64 pages) and lacking the "meat" I desired. Perhaps it was because I wanted to see more of her wonderful projects! It's definately worth reading if you are new to collage and/or are building a library of books of ideas.

While this book has gorgeous projects - it lacks real instructions on how to make these items.

This is a wonderfully creative book with many ideas for artistic expression.I highly recommend this selection.

This is the only art book of any kind that I have looked through and realized that I would not want to make one thing shown. There is no sense of composition and the pieces seem like piles of junk made from purchased components made to look like found objects that seem to be in every craft store now.
