Elmer Kelton of San Angelo, Texas is a native Texan and author of over 50 Western novels. He has won many awards for his work and has been recognized as the Greatest Western Writer of all time by the Western Writers of America, Inc. He is the author of Forge's Texas Ranger series.

I bought a remaindered copy of this book and was so disappointed with the quality of the reproductions (too many of them seemed fuzzy or printed out of register) that I gave it away. That one may have been a fluke. Try to physically inspect the book before you buy, or make sure it's returnable if you don't like it. I admire James Bama's work, though, and this book does show quite a few examples.

I've been an admiror of James Bama since I first visited the Sheldon Art Museum in Lincoln, Nebraska some 15 years ago. His work has great photographic painting technique and his attention to the western and indian detail is very good. I hope that Mr. Bama has another book published soon. Norman D. Catlett
