This review is from: The Art of Japanese Ceramics (Heibonsha Survey) (Hardcover)
This title is one of a series on different forms of Japanese art put out by Heibonsha. It gives a great description of the history and background behind Japanese Ceramics, and in particular why there are so many different styles, and what makes them unique and different from ceramics in other parts of the world. A brilliant overview for anyone starting to study Japanese art and ceramics, or just interested in why Japanese ceramics are so revered the world over. Good photographs also make understanding the different styles a little easier.
