This is a very unique and beautiful deck. I've been waiting for one like this for ages! As a Tarot reader, I adore matching quotes to the essence of a particular Tarot card, or even several cards combined together. The box design is really nifty too! The top can be propped up and a card can be inserted into the "picture frame" on the cover. My only complaint, and the reason I gave it four stars and not five? The cards are painfully thin. Perhaps this is just a personal preference of mine, but I like my card stock a little more sturdy. Care will have to be taken with them so as not to bend or tear them.

The ART OF LIFE Tarot is easy to connect with~ the strength of the classic art images and the wisdom of the fitting quotations make this a deck that is approachable, meaningful and very open to your needs. This is a great deck for meditation~ very affirming and inspiring. But it is also good to read with as it is very true to "classic" tarot. The choices Charlene Livingstone made for each and every card are really perfect! The WORLD card is a combination of a Da Vinci drawing and
a quote by Emerson: "All that Adam had, all that Caesar could, you have and can do...Build, therefore, your own world."
You will love this deck!

Rarely do you find something so special- "genuine and good". I just bought 5 more sets to have on hand for gift-giving...it's THE PERFECT gift, truly. It's a beautiful package, a gorgeous/quality "jewel box" of a case...for an incredible deck of cards. I am new to tarot- and I'm just getting into it- but I've spent a lot of time in Barnes and Noble and places looking for a deck to jump out and say, (as my Dad would always say), "Buy Me, Buy Me!". Art of Life did just that...it drew me in by the picture alone- and then after reading what the experts had to say, I had to have it.
Even an amateur of Tarot, like myself, can tell right away that this deck is the real deal.
It is in itself a "Masterpiece", of masterpieces!
Don't hesitate- get it. You won't be disappointed. I've been using it for the past month- each morning I shuffle the deck and pick a card...and it somehow makes the day brighter- no matter what's happening in my life. It allows me to approach the day with a more meaningful and positive outlook, which hey, for $20 dollars- I'd say it's one of the best returns on any investment I've ever made. On weekends, or when I have more time I look at the booklet that the author wrote and I use some of her suggestions as far as lay out...she has made it so easy and approachable! It's just a great way to spend a few minutes with myself- over a leisurely Saturday or Sunday morning coffee. True meaning and wisdom can be hard to find with all of the craziness today- and with the pace of life.
Charlene Livingstone offers some wisdom and happiness to all of us with this deck...it's a treasure and I feel lucky to have discovered it. I never write reviews- but I had to for this deck- I wish the author and publisher great success and will look out for more of the same in the future! :)

After having the Rider-Waite Knight of Wands come charging through her dreams one night during a stressful time in her life, Livingstone became certain that it was time to create her own tarot deck. The result is a 78-card deck which coordinates the traditional major and minor arcana of tarot with great works of art. Drawing on her extensive background in art history, and more importantly her love of great art, she has come up with an insightful, unique, and inspirational tarot that works very well as either an oracle or a basis for meditation. Some of her choices are obvious, like using Van Gogh's "Starry Night" to illustrate The Star. (How could you use anything else?) Others, like "Lovers Smoking" by 19th c.Thai School for The Devil and "The Acrobats" by Ernst Kirchner for The Hanged Man, are more surprising.

The deck is beautifully reproduced and the box has an attached pop-up frame which will display one card at a time. Each card also has a quote printed below the painting which is relevant to the meaning of the card, making it easier for those new to tarot to work with the deck. Over-sized and meticulously designed, this deck is a perfect gift for yourself or others, whether you are a tarot enthusiast or not.

When I first opened the Art of Life Tarot Deck package and examined it, I found it breathtaking. There are many things about this deck that make it unusual and very unique. I love the art work. There are 78 cards in this deck and each features a magnificent painting. They very in style and composition. Each gives the opportunity to really embrace and step into the work and experience all the wonder and secrets each one holds. It is easy to look at it and see so many different things and yet see something new each time.

The deck provides a virtual trip to the most Exquisite Museums around the world and the opportunity to see, examine and experience some of the most beautiful and famous works of art in all history. The caliber of this work is not one that you can just quickly glance through. The cards are oversized and it works well because the large border naturally guides the eye to the masterpiece at hand.

Each card also contains a quote in reference to that specific card. The quotes are from a variety of sources like Thoreau, Shakespeare, Lao Tzu, and Nietzsche just to name a few. Those quotes are of the same depth that cannot be just glanced through either. They must be considered and savored like fine wine.

This gives the reader three wonderful tools to work with. The name of the card is easy to see. The art gives a symphony of depth to the senses that must be seen to experience. The quotes are not trite nor are they mindless pontifications of drivel. They are deep. When they are combined together this deck provides a wonderful tool for Tarot reading or personal reflection.
