This review is from: The Art of Long Reining (Hardcover)
This is a short book comparing Danish and English long lining techniques. I found it helpful, but certainly not enlightening. For example, it has wonderful ideas on using the long lines to accomplish shoulder-in and haunches-in. Yet, after reading the book I still am relatively clueless on how to accomplish either one correctly on the long lines. I did pick up some very helpful ideas for exercises using long lines. Truth to tell, I already know how to perform shoulder-in on the long lines (no thanks to this book) and I liked the ideas for performing it at the trot as well as serpentines at the trot. Also liked the idea of expanding and contracting your circles on long lines - again, this was a new idea for me on long lines. Overall, I am happy with this book. But I would suggest you need an existing foundation in long lining to get anything out of this book.

This review is from: The Art of Long Reining (Paperback)
Sylvia not only gives the British way of long-lining (long-reining) but also demonstrates methods from other countries, which it is good to know - and you can easily see their usefulness, particularly for the field of dressage. She has clear photos of the equipment used and how to use it, plus diagrams. This will make it easier for even a beginner.
