Book Description

October 15, 2002
Feel the excitement of being here now! In The Art of the Moment, bestselling author Véronique Vienne explores ways to get the most from life, one day at a time. Her signature essays—short and sweet, yet insightful—are invitations to appreciate the uniqueness of each moment. Dismissing the notion that our notoriously short attention span is to be blamed for our distracted state of mind, she encourages readers to savor the fullness of life in brief, joyful installments. “Don’t wait for a second chance to get it right,” she says. “Each moment is both the last time and the first time because no two days are ever alike.”
Each chapter is a reminder that time is not running out. You don’t have to rush to experience a sense of joy, wonder, and adventure. It’s yours for the taking, whenever you are ready for it. You can claim the “now” while watering the lawn, taking a seven-year-old to soccer practice, buying a new pair of shoes, or daydreaming about opening a small bookstore across the street from the bank.

This book is a must-read for anyone who enjoyed Véronique Vienne’s now-classic The Art of Doing Nothing—and a perfect gift for anyone who believes that the ultimate art of living is to make each minute count.

Beautifully illustrated with radiant photographs by Ann Rhoney, The Art of the Moment celebrates the very special joie de vivre that is your birthright.

5.0 out of 5 stars Movement in the Moment, December 11, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Art of the Moment: Simple Ways to Get the Most from Life (Hardcover)
A book about the Moment could be a cliche. Vienne has managed to create a perspective on time that shows the way to a kind of temporal flexibility. It is true the moment is all we have. When you are in it, you don't always have the opportunity to see how many possibilities there are. Ms. Vienne is a master at presenting us with a muliplicity of alternatives. A lovely, intelligent book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple truths, September 17, 2008
This review is from: The Art of the Moment: Simple Ways to Get the Most from Life (Hardcover)
I love Veronique's writing in this small, beautiful book. (The photos are beautiful too).

The words, spiritual in nature, are so simple and inspiring. You can't think through what's written here with your thinking mind; you have to read this book with a certain presence to really get something from it. Read this without any awareness and you'll end up feeling disappointed and maybe even angry, as if you wasted your time.

Wisdom like this - so simple, yet eternal - is supposed to leave you grasping a bit, leaving questions as well as illumination that come with quiet self-reflection.

2.0 out of 5 stars Strange book, March 1, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: The Art of the Moment: Simple Ways to Get the Most from Life (Hardcover)
I don't get these books by Veronique Vienne. The photos are nice, but the text is often downright weird. Her earlier books were better, and now they're starting to wear thin. I'd suggest you pass on this one and if you really must buy something of hers, make it her "Art of Imperfection" or "Art of Doing Nothing," which are still a little strange but more tolerable.
