Susan Bracaglia Tobey, a former curatorial assistant at the Whitney Museum of American Art and researcher at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, has lovingly compiled 180 pages of mothers and children in art. This book is filled with art from many cultures and centuries about mothers in all stages of motherhood. It is a beautiful and profound compilation, and a new mother especially, my find comfort in recognizing how universal the experience is.

I enjoyed looking through every page of this book. The book is divided into sections--pregnancy, giving birth, breastfeeding, and so on. I really appreciated breastfeeding being included. Many colorful pictures, with background included on each artist as well as the specific artwork.
