If Only They'd Recorded Together More,
By A Customer
This review is from: Art N Zoot (Audio CD)
Art 'n' Zoot is a lively, engaging, and flawless set of jazz from two sax masters. The performances, from Pepper's gut-wrenching version of "Over the Rainbow" to Sims's jaunty take on "The Girl from Ipanema" are tight and energetic, with superior support from a backup group including the likes of bass legend Ray Brown and a guest appearance from guitarist Barney Kessell. The music is alive and heartfelt, and the superior production quality brings out the warmth in every note. This is the type of set that bears fruit regardless of how many times one plays it. Heartily recommended to fans of Art and Zoot, and anyone who loves jazz saxaphone. The only regret is that there aren't more albums from these two masters together!

Actually, this is a fabulous album. I think it's one of the best. I'm a big Art Pepper fan, and this one really swings...

Zoot is wonderful as always, but Art Pepper shows the ravages of his drug addition. Not good. All of the rhythm players are great.
