4.0 out of 5 stars Good Taijutsu Techniques
I am currently studying Budo Taijutsu in the Bujinkan - the ninjutsu school under Togakure Ryu Soke Hasaaki Matsumi - and was looking to train outside of class. Jack Hoban has presented a quality video here of three major principles of this fighting technique - Junan Taiso (stretching), Sanshin No Kata (5 basic fighting forms) and Kihon Happo (8 basic techniques)...

The person that buys this video from this d-bag , Needs a swift roundhouse kick to the head. Give me 29.97 and I will kick you in the privates , it will feel a lot better than having to watch this tape.

Jack Hoban has presented a quality video here of three major principles of this fighting technique - Junan Taiso (stretching), Sanshin No Kata (5 basic fighting forms) and Kihon Happo (8 basic techniques). These are fundamental and need to be mastered by anyone studying Budo Taijutsu. If you are interested in the true ninjutsu fighting style.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT VIDEO!, April 5, 2004

This one is great. Hoban covers Junan Taiso, Sanshin no Kata, and Kihon Happo. A great start on the Ten Chi Jin Ryaku no Maki. Although, you can get the whole series at ninjadynasty.com for less. 24.95

5.0 out of 5 stars Great basics tape for beginners AND advanced practitioners., March 4, 2004

What I liked about this tape is that Hoban and his students aren't trying to show off or prove how tough they are. They are just trying to illustrate the basic forms of the art. It even seems as if the students Hoban uses to demonstrate are, themselves, working through some of the same issues that most of us are. (If you can't tell, I am a practitioner of this art. And by the way, I have trained with Mr. Hoban; his natural power is deceptive, and frighteningly NOT lacking, in my opinion). So, get this video, but also try to train with him in person.

2.0 out of 5 stars lacking, January 23, 2003

This review is from: Art of the Ninja by Jack Hoban, Volume 1 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This video has some good points nad bad points. Mr.Hoban is fluid in his techniques but he is lacking in the natural power that can be derived from taijutsu. Plus his ihan no kamae is off kilter with his butt sticking out instead of behind him. Anyways view it for yourself, if it is all that you have then it will have to do.
