5.0 out of 5 stars Their Future is Now, August 9, 2005
This review is from: The Art of Noises (Monographs in Musicology) (Hardcover)
Ambient, noise, environmental, industrial and experimental musics ALL owe a debt to Luigi Russolo. This book captures so much of what these modern musics are trying to convey. Thank you, Luigi.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Holy Bible of Noise, Industrial, and Experimental music!, November 23, 2004
This review is from: The Art of Noises (Monographs in Musicology) (Hardcover)
Before Einsturzende Neubauten, before Throbbing Gristle, before Merzbow, etc. there was a movement called Futurism. Luigi Russolo's early instrument constructions were a major part of this movement and would go on to influence many important figures in music and sound (John Cage comes to mind) and would also influence the early rumblings of what we now call Noise, Industrial,or Experimental music. Even watered-down performers such as Blue Man Group and Stomp owe Russolo a major debt that can be compared to what Chuck Berry and Little Richard did for Rock and Roll. If you have even a passing interest in any of the above mentioned movements or musics, consider this the gospel of the genre(s). THANK YOU,LUIGI RUSSOLO!!! BRING THE NOISE!!!
