A compendium MUST HAVE for the Obama Art Movement,
By Art Aficionado "Art Aficionado" (San Francisco, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Art for Obama: Designing Manifest Hope and the Campaign for Change (Paperback)
There is no doubt that the Obama Art movement was something unprecedented during the 2008 campaign season.Artist Shepard Fairey and Jennifer Gross did a wonderful job of compiling such a large number of artists in one book, and this is a must have for collectors. The art produced varies from street art to knit wear, and it is simply amazing how people from so many artistic backgrounds came together to promote one man. Something I personally liked was that the book was affordable for the quality. Similar art books often cost around $32.00 for roughly the same quality of publishing.

Exactly what I imagined! As the inside leaf states. "This is a volume for all design and art oficionados, as well as supporters of the forty-fourth president of the United States who want a keepsake as uncommon as his extraordinary campaign."

If you buy one modern art book this year, this should be the one. Quite an achievement. Bravo.

Thumb Through it at the Bookstore,

Save yourself $20 (by the time you ship it) and just thumb through it at the bookstore. Its not that good. In my opinion his poster wasn't that good, or even original. Personally I would never spend a dime to support the copyright infringing Mr. Fairey. After all, what do creatives have without the copyright to their work? Fairey is certainly taking issue with others using his work! I can only hope this book doesn't come close to funding the legal fees needed by this copyright infringing, lying, evidence destroying "artist".
