4.0 out of 5 stars Thrashin' like its '86, November 27, 2007

Municipal Waste are becoming front-runners in the new wave of thrash metal alongside bands like Fueled by Fire, Merciless Death and Dekapitator. Thrash Metal is a genre not forgotten, maybe out of the limelight, but not forgotten.Bands like Unearth and Trivium incorporate elements of thrash into their music keeping this genre very much alive.

Back to the review of this album. Most the songs clock in just under 3 minutes but offer a surge of heavy drumming, crazy shreds n riffs and rebellious lyrics that would satisfy any kid diagnosed with A.D.D. All the craziness Suicidal Tendencies or Slayer would bring plus excellent production? This is a sure buy for anyone still rocking a denim vest and an Anthrax shirt.peace and beer to you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thrrrrrrrasssssshh!, September 1, 2007

Amazingly wonderful party thrash here! These guys definitely kill it, and make you want to toss back several beers (or your poison of choice). They had this girl jumping and moshing around her apartment upon first spin of this sick album. Yes, they are proud of their love of partying, but don't take this band as a novelty act. Really solid musicianship here; great speed and energy without a hint of falling apart or "going thru the motions." Definite punk influence here.... all around fast, fun, and furious!

I for one am very thankful for the revival of my favorite type of music thrash. And municipal waste are one of the band's carrying the flag. At first i was tempted to write them off as a gimmick band with a bad name. But im glad i didn't because the art of partying happens to be one of the best cd this year so far and is a glorious reminder of why i like thrash so much in the first place. They have perfected the crossover thrash sound. The riffs rip and are gauranteed to give you a very sore neck. The lyrics are funny in places its nice to see a thrash band with tongue in cheek and serious in others. The vocals fit the music perfectly. My only complaint is the cd is just to short.

get ready for the pit boys and bitches! these guys mix DRI & Nuclear Assault and produce one mosh riff after another...a definite addition to any fan's collection of classic metal/thrash/crossover \m/ could have been released in 89!

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent retro thrash, November 13, 2007
This review is from: The Art of Partying (Audio CD)
Get out your sleeveless denim vest and white high tops! This is some viscious retro thrash with modern elements. The production is huge, the riffs are intense, and the dudes can SHRED! The party vibe can get a little gimmicky, but the music is for real.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bow to the new messiahs of thrash!., May 23, 2008
This review is from: The Art of Partying (Audio CD)
Municipal Waste are the kings of thrash metal. Their sound is a cross between Slayer, Exodus, Suicidal Tendencies and S.O.D but these guys are not a novelty act or a ripoff they definetely have some talent and they're a highly original and new thrash metal group that happens to be excellent. Even though the songs on The Art of Partying don't last that long they still manage to blast through with high speed and energy and there is a lack of variation but it still fu***** rocks, you've got some fantastic songs like Sadistic magician, Mental shock, Headbanger face rip, Inebriator, Rigorous vengeance and Beer pressure these are the songs that stand out the most but basically the whole album was great they also add a bit of humor with the concept of partying and getting wasted. It sounds like old school thrash so if you're familiar with this stuff then your going to love it! Sadistic magician has got to be one of the greatest thrash songs I've ever heard and its the track that I constantly have on repeat, anyway the album was filled with some killer hooks and great shredding riffs that make you wanna head bang till you get a neck injury, make sure that you get this awesome album now!!.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keeping thrash metal alive and kickin', February 1, 2011
This review is from: The Art of Partying (Audio CD)
What a great album. "The Art of Partying" is an embodiment of the loud-hard-fast party atmosphere of such bands as Anthrax, Suicidal Tendencies, and other metal giants. Although this album is quite short and there's a lack of guitar solos, it does come chock full of complex, lightning-fast riffs, amazing drumming, energetic vocal performances over and over, and all the right lyrics, ranging from the more serious stuff in the veins of Megadeth and Overkill, to humorous topics (such as a personal favorite, "Headbanger Face Rip"). Again, it would have been nice to throw some blazing guitar solos in there, but this band, along with others such as Evile, Bonded By Blood and Fueled By Fire prove that thrash metal is still alive and well! Thanks for the time, and peace.

After hearing so much about these guys, I finally bought a MW cd. Unbelievably FUN thrash. The speed and chug-a-thon pit-inducing rhythms simply ROCK. Also, the vocalist can spit out the lyrics faster than I can read 'em.

Top of the thrash heap.
