5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Red Back Book, January 10, 2009

This review is from: The Art Of The Rag (Audio CD)
This is my favorite of the two compilations put together by Schuller and the NE Conservatory Ragtime Ensemble (the other being The Red Back Book, which I also enjoy). Although I believe many of them are the same players, the performances on this album stand out. The rags seem more complex and have much more character. Favorites are the Magnetic Rag and the Wall Street Rag. Enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome, March 15, 2005
This review is from: The Art Of The Rag (Audio CD)
Since i am into ragtime i was curious about orchestral movements.
I play alot of piano rags but you also would believe it was composed for orchestra

gunther schuller and his ragtime ensemble are in my eyes the bestest in this sector. They play the rags like they use to be.
i can recommend this CD to everyone who likes ragtime.
