I have only begun to work through this amazing book. It has a depth of content that I am always seeking and will enjoy savoring over many readings. As an artist, I am stimulated by learning more about how other artists conceptualize their work. Author Lisa L. Cyr challenges her readers again and again, with such statements as "To create a more vibrant and robust cultural exchange, artists need to become inventors of their own content, asserting a viewpoint all their own."

This book is one tool that can help stimulate your own evolution as an artist: it is that well written and thought provoking. It is also visually stunning.

I recently bought this book and have only begun to read through it. I like how the information is presented and that each artist gets to have their say, not just about technique, but also about the thought and feeling going into their art.

The main issue I have with this book is that all the art has the same look and feel to it, sort of "modern distressed." I know this is popular now, like steampunk art and such. I guess I'd like to see an "art revolution" with more diversity and range to it. It gives me pause that 'alternative' gets so narrowly defined.

I bought this book with great expectation and it did not disappoint me. It has very interesting reviews about all the artists featured, where they explain their personal approaches to finding their own themes and voice. Besides, they give very good step by step demonstrations on special techniques, many of them using non conventional materials and even digital media. I really recommend it.

The art in this book is gorgeous, and there is a lot of high brow talk about the revolution and history of mixed media art. I believe this book would be most helpful for those who are already professional or semi-professional artists and need some inspiration to take their work in another direction or to another level. For me, the amateur mixed media/collage/found objects artist, it didn't do much to inspire or help me.

Ms. Cyr's Art Revolution book delivers some very exciting ideas on how artists can/should incorporate their own artistic visions & creativity into their artwork. The book is full of fantastic examples; some are quite unique, some are colorful, some are clever, but most of all they are very inspiring. It is very interesting to see how the various artists in this book used some form of drawing or painting then, by combining alternative techniques & along with cohesive mixed media materials to create their very distinct art. I love this book & refer to it regularly to gain new perspectives when creating my art or to help solve a problem if I get stuck when creating. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to take their art to a new level by using the ideas/techniques here to create some truly innovative art. Keep on creating!!!

Love the instruction and art history that went with it. Liked the fact that there was various techniques and artist styles.

Oh I can't help myself I've got to spread the message, it's in my blood to do this, My new favorite book has just arrived yesterday and I can't tell you how it is to read something and see that what kind of work you creating these days is right there in your face with the new Art revolution and I so totally get it and understand it and reading even the first few chapters I can say that my words would never be able to describe it so well as Lisa L Cyr has in this book she has a gift. And the artist in this book are amazing. The combination of mediums used by the artist and illustrators is what is so interesting. As we all become aware of the art being produced we will see more and more of it around us, the kind of work that is helping us touch base on all our visual and textile senses. If you gift your self with a book let it be this one great reading and visual content and how to illustrations. I have to admit it's my new bible for my art world.

I love experimenting with mixed media and objects around the house, and bought this book for ideas for a mural in my daughter's bedroom. Excellent for ideas :) Worth price I paid in store, but wish I would've looked here first! Good impulse buy though, I must say.

I use this book nearly every day in my painting. It has some great ideas, and although I don't always totally understand what the author is trying to get across, it really loosens you up and gets the experimental, creative juices flowing.
