About the Author

Bill H. Ritchie, Jr. is an artist and writer in Seattle. For 19 years he was a professor of art, and then resigned to be an independent producer of art, books, videos and DVD work with both creative and practical goals in mind. The Art of Selling Art is the first in his trilogy, The Perfect Studios. In this book he seeks to develop an economic philosophy in order to sell into the art market without "selling out". More About the Author

Bill Ritchie grew up on his father's farms in the Yakima Valley, Washington. He made good as a printmaking and new technologies art professor at the University of Washington, but he didn't fit in so after 19 years in the institution, he retired. Armed with a part of his pension and his wife's continuing support, he went searching in the real world for the "Perfect Studios." The belief that teaching, research, practice and service in one place, concomitantly, like in a teaching hospital is his persistent world--like a massively multiplayer role playing game. Along the way of his research he found Elmer Gates, whose biography inspired a vision of an imaginary place, a dreamland Bill named "Emeralda" where people from many disciplines interact on the Web and face-to-face to create a blended online learning plan. He is centered on a passion for the art and craft of printmaking blended with the age of digital communication.
