I have been buying this product for a few years and have loved it. Unfortunately, I have found that the product has been continually watered down. What use to last three or four months, now only lasts a month. It use to be a very thick shaving cream, almost a paste consistency and you would not need very much at all, now it has the consistency of whipped cream. Clever in terms of boosting sales as customers will go through it a lot faster and reduces the manufacturing cost.

I'm going to have to find an alternative as I can no longer afford to pay $25 a month just for shaving cream. My advice to The Art of Shaving Company is "Stop being so damn greedy and give consumers what they are paying for".

Looking at the comments here, I doubt if many long-time users of The Art of Shaving's products know that the company was sold to Proctor & Gamble in 2009. I believe that like too many things, a great product with superior qualities was unable to make it through the economic downturn.

I have found that the last two times that I have purchased products they have lasted less than 1/2 of the time the products of a few years ago lasted. My head isn't bigger, so why am I buying product so often? I went back to the original products in my travel kit and the difference was night and day.

I love the concept of 4-step shaving. It returned some of the comfort and elegance to shaving that has been beat out of men since the 1950's. The original products were incredible, but the latest versions are just too lightweight to justify the price.

I've been using The Art of Shaving for several years now. Since they don't have a distributor in my city, I thought I'd try ordering this here since it's included in Amazon Prime. I may have gotten a bad batch, but my gut feeling is this is old product. The smell is remarkably weaker than the product I bought in the Art of Shaving stores and the consistency of the product also feels thinner, not the thick luxurious texture of the shave cream I'm used to. I will pass on ordering this item again. I'll go to a reputable dealer in person to make sure I get what i expect. Don't waste your money.

I was really into the Art of Shaving products at one point. I found that they gave me a clean comfortable shave, and smelled great! I recently repurchased a tub of the Sandalwood shaving cream and immediately began to get razor burn. My shaving routine is precise like clockwork, so no other variables had changed. My only assumption is that the product has been watered down. I have found that I have to use twice the amount of product to get the same amount of lather. Even when I do get lather it is foamy rather than slick like before. I came online and noticed that others had the same complaints. I imagine that since Art of Shaving was purchased by P&G that their quality has diminished gradually, and that they have reformulated their product. That can be the only explanation based on my experience. They have perfected "the art of shaving off the quality of their product!" I wrote a review on the art of shaving website, but surprise, it seems that they only post the 4 and 5 star reviews. I suppose I will give the British three T's a try.

I shave everyday and it has lasted me a year. The only way to make it last this long is to use a brush to apply it. You will need 1/4 as much then when trying to apply by hand. make sure brush and face are damp first, will really help cream to lather up.

I began purchasing the art of shaving products at a time when I desired to learn how to shave with a straight razor. I still can't figure out how to shave with a straigh razor but I have stuck with the products because they, much to my surprise, do improve the quality of your shave. I use a mach 3 turbo with this cream and the most notable thing I see consistantly is that my shave is much more even than with the canned shaving creams I used to get. When coupling this product with a pre-shave oil, and after shave lotion I do notice that my skin and stubble are both far more soft than they have been in the past which was especially nice in the winter when my face didn't feel like raw hamburger after a shave. I don't know how the cream plays in to this equation so I would recommend picking up the trio of products but on its own merits I would say that this cream at the very least provides the most even and smooth shave of any cream I have used to this point in my life. It does take a minor amount of practice to figure out how to get a really good lather. Definitely worth the investment if you give a crap about your skin in the least.

This is a great gell and I recommend it. The first jar I bought lasted a little over a year, but I average a shave only every-other-day. You need only a little, about a dime-sized dab, to work up a great lather.

Certainly the best shaving cream I've used. The jar lasts a very long time as you only need a very small amount on a shaving brush.
