Cute songs, but unfortunately will not be able to us in my classroom! sounded so fabulous i ordered without hearing... sad to hear almost all songs contain questionable material for public school elementary age students. Talks about drinking habits of artists, marriage problems, etc. Wish it had focused a little more on artists good qualities and works!

5.0 out of 5 stars Playful, instructive & full of surprises!, May 13, 2007

For kids and adults alike, Art Songs is a gem. With catchy melodies that reflect the artist each song is about, the album entertains as it provides lessons in art and some of the most important modern artists. The songwriters' wit comes through in each song. Even though I studied art at college and work in the field, the distilled way that artists' lives and work(s) are presented allow for new insights for all. Art Songs should be used in every school, and by parents everywhere who want to give their children a head-start in art!

5.0 out of 5 stars inspired and inspiring delight!, February 14, 2008
This review is from: Art Songs: Ten Songs About Artists (Hardcover)
Where else could you hear a three minute portrait of Kandinsky which succinctly tells his life story and illuminates the spirit of his work, all in an informed, enchanting, witty and catchy meeting of Craftwerk and Boney M, which you will be humming for the rest of the day...
Not to mention brilliantly ridiculous rhymes (or was that ridiculously brilliant?).
If you don't know much about these artists, these songs are a delightful introduction, and if you do, prepare to be totally re-inspired! This unique and eclectic collection is crying out to be staged or animated, or maybe just cranked up and danced to in your living room while you play air guitar or cha-cha-cha with your paintbrush, with or without the kids.
