2.0 out of 5 stars interesting enough
Its an interesting enough book, unusual, perhaps unecessarily bamboozling in its language for most, and somehow dupes you into thinking it is deeper than it is by the complexity of language. However there are bits that are trully beautiful, that entice one to a level of honesty not normally encountered. A lot of merit in that. There is no doubt Lujan Matus is a clever...

This review is from: The Art of Stalking Parallel Perception: The Living Tapestry of Lujan Matus (Paperback)
'The Art of Stalking Parallel Perception; The Living Tapestry of Lujan Matus' is a stunningly original work, the first, and hopefully not the last, novel from this mystic pioneer.

Upon reading the book I became transfixed by the language, drawn into its dream-like web and held there. The novel describes the authors travels and encounters in parallel states of awareness and dreams, and the lessons presented to him by a group of seers, who reveal themselves one by one, cloaked in mystery and to be possessing great power. From the very start, the reader becomes aware that this is no ordinary book, the authors energy literally springs off the page, commanding your attention. Anyone seriously interested in self development, personal empowerment, the nature and navigation of dream states or any other kind of existential enquiry seriously owes it to themselves to read this book. In the fascinating genre of shamanism/sorcery, 'The Art of Stalking Parallel Perception' is an extraordinarily exciting book, going beyond, in terms of depth and directness, the works of Carlos Castaneda and his contemporaries Florinda Donner and Taisha Abelar.

The first chapter, 'Shamanic Dreaming', describes the author's initiation into the dream maker's realm, where he is cast through a whirlwind of scenes and dream states. We are introduced to Somai and Lucien, seers possessing great power and knowledge. The author is then given his name, as a gift of power; "Your inner child has absorbed the old nagual Lujan's luminosity and has been qualified, and through this qualification you have also inherited his name."

The second chapter, 'Threads of Intention', deals with the trappings of mankind, both internally and socially. Lujan's seer companions attempt to help him to extricate himself from the encumbering forces of socialization through understanding. The dialogue covers rarely dealt with subjects that we are all subliminally aware of, such as the inter-connective corruption that exists within us and the power of words.

In the next chapter, 'The Hidden Fabric', we are introduced to Malaiyan, a gentle and poetic warrior. His lessons are interlaced with provocative images and stunning metaphors; "Can you sit and be silent, Lujan? Silence as a concept seems to be as elusive as picking up water with your bare hands".

The fourth chapter, 'Fear Not, Be Free', features dialogues between the author and Barak, a man of courage who instructs on the nature of fear and how man can extricate himself from its clutches.

The tone of the book shifts in chapter 5, 'Haunted Awareness', with a truly chilling account of darker forces at play within mechanisms of the mind of man, followed by a series of symbolic alien hieroglyphs, 'The hieroglyph of haunted awareness' and 'The hieroglyph of inner light'. All aspects of the symbols are explained and comparisons drawn between them. The effect that viewing these strange images and reading their accompanying explanations had on me was cathartic. The chapter ends with an absolutely terrifying tale where Lujan is led, by his cohorts to confront a nightmarish essence, lurking in the shadows. In this chapter we are also introduced to a crucial character, Zakai, as well as the four hypnotically powerful female seers Dyani, Ela, Shashani and Mion.

Mysterious Encounters describes fascinating experiences with alien life forms on more than one occasion.

The seventh and eighth chapters, 'Emptying the Imprint' and 'Hunting the Haunted', offer practical solutions to the problems outlined in previous chapters whilst simultaneously introducing new concepts. One can't shake the feeling that the information and ideas contained here are of crucial and direct importance to us all.

At the ninth chapter, 'The Shadow's Mind', the narrative is interrupted and a story from the point of view of one of the author's students is interjected. It is the tale of Nicholas, and offers a certain respite from the intensity of the previous chapters. The story centers around the character's inability to sustain himself within truth, and serves as a means to examine deception and betrayal on the everyday stage.

'Dreaming the Dreamed' sees a return to the dream makers realm, where a final hieroglyph is revealed and also dream scenes containing astounding biblical revelations with extraordinary depth are outlined.

The eleventh chapter, 'Sexual Attention', is a colourful and intensely fascinating body of work. It begins in a question and answer format, and moves on to sub-headings containing practices, knowledge, and tales of beauty. The chapter covers subjects such as celibacy, male and female sexual retention, sexual practices, power and energetic assassination.

Chapter 12, 'The Heart of Dreaming', is powerful section that begins to cap off the lessons presented previously, whilst shedding light on new subjects. It begins with a fascinating description of the old Nagual Lujan and his connection to oriental practices, and then moves on to discuss the subtleties of time and power; "Our power lies on personal containment, not in the acquisition of personal principles". Questions are answered with sage-like wisdom and clarity. The author makes continual reference to poignant childhood dream states to illustrate concepts and raise questions. The chapter is full of information that bursts with relevance and impact. The dream scenes described are riveting.

The book's last chapter, 'The Power of Silent Cognition', begins with an encounter with the narrator's benefactor. Final lessons are received and the mood is silent and powerful; "Your responsibility is as mine, to transmit, and through this transmission set those who listen free from that encompassing entrapment that enthralls us all." Following this chapter is an epilogue, and it is perhaps the sweetest section of the entire novel, leaving the reader suspended in a living tapestry that defies description.

Reading this novel I experienced a vast array of feelings and sensations. There were times when the subjects brought about emotional upheaval. These were always followed by intense revelations and moments of personal clarity. As I was pulled deeper in to the narrative, an underlying thread became apparent, yet hard to define. Suffice to say that it felt like the origin and inspiration for this work was alien, yet thoroughly exciting.

I can honestly say that this book has had an incredibly positive affect on my life, in terms of understanding. It has also helped to create a unique sense of well being and elation, that feels as if something has been reclaimed inside of myself.

'The Art of Stalking Parallel Perception' is a milestone in the literary world in general, and an absolute gem in the genre of sorcery, in particular. It achieves the almost impossible task of capturing the reader's heart and mind, whilst at the same time filling them with an endless sense of enchantment, curiosity and wonder.

5.0 out of 5 stars new ways of seeing, August 19, 2005
This review is from: The Art of Stalking Parallel Perception: The Living Tapestry of Lujan Matus (Paperback)
I am writing this review primarily to thank the author, for reminding me of things I dearly needed to remember. I had my doubts when this book was recommended to me by a dear friend, whose enthusiastic claims seemed to me at the time a little far-fetched and stirred up some resistance and skepticism. Having read the book however, I find myself being transformed by its contents in ways I would not have dared hope for. The revelations of Lujan Matus and his companians have entered my world with profound effects on my conduct, the language of my thoughts and the quality of my interactions. I feel even my past transforming under the impact of new perspectives and intentions, lifting the weight of those collected experiences to reveal previously untapped lessons and gifts. In particular the stories of Lujan's childhood triggered a personal reconnection to my own memories of that original innocence, which alone was worth the read. Parts of the book I had some trouble getting through - 'Emptying the Imprint' as an example seemed conceptually dense and heavy going at the time and I felt as though I wasn't entirely absorbing the information - but what I discovered later was that when these mysteriously stored concepts collided with my life circumstances, I had new perceptual resources at my disposal and could act with greater fluidity and directness. The detailed information on the alien heiroglyphs also resonated very strongly for me. These maps of awareness have been extremely useful as a key to understanding myself and why things are the way they are - through looking at the state of the inner child as the issue of primary importance in relation to our self expression and ability to percieve. Overall I feel I am being rearranged to become more real and I am truly grateful.
Thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars A refreshing new perspective, July 28, 2005
This review is from: The Art of Stalking Parallel Perception: The Living Tapestry of Lujan Matus (Paperback)
I have read all of Castaneda's books and found them immensely valuable in helping me to see things from a different point of view but at times I had difficulty with some of the concepts as they often seemed abstract to me. This book has given me a new way of thinking about some of these concepts. In particular I have struggled with Castaneda's recapitulation technique and have had trouble disciplining myself with a consistent practice. From this book I have learnt a new approach to the recapitulation which I can relate to much better and it is helping me immensely with this aspect of my development.
This book has reminded me of the importance of personal integrity for those on a journey of power. I would highly recommend it not only for those who are familiar with Castaneda's work but for anyone who is interested in self-improvement and making the most of our precious time on the planet.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Journey of Discovery., September 7, 2005
This review is from: The Art of Stalking Parallel Perception: The Living Tapestry of Lujan Matus (Paperback)
Before reading this book I considered my life to be on task, but now I can see quite frankly that I was just kidding myself. Reading this book is like nothing I have ever experienced in my life.

When you read it you realize you are really reading the dream of the author and like the dream it seems to be difficult to recover or remember that dream, but in real life when something gets triggered inside me by my environment the information in the book appears and has replaced my old internal dialogue with fragments of the book.

Life for me is still confronting but now I seem to speedily shift from situation to situation with a fluid ease that I have not experienced before in my life. I am feeling very confident now because I have something to back me up that talks to me in a real voice. I found the hieroglyphs immensely useful in allowing me to see what is really occurring in front of me from moment to moment.

This is a magical book.

5.0 out of 5 stars An unprecedented jewel, June 21, 2005
This review is from: The Art of Stalking Parallel Perception: The Living Tapestry of Lujan Matus (Paperback)
The Art of Stalking Parallel Perception continues to astound and delight with its incisive and unrelenting insights. Having welcomed the information into my life as an inevitable result of coming into contact with something so real and so fluid, I'm finding only confirmation in my everyday experiences. I return to paragraphs, sentences and imagery with great excitement as they unlock truths at the appropriate moment in relation to the complex interactions I encounter on my journey to sustain and build personal power and clarity. What is passed on through these words is teaching me to see what is happening around me, know and take responsibility for my part in it while remaining true to myself and standing my ground against surreptitious onslaughts. It's *@#king incredible! and that's only a fraction of it! Of course this is an ongoing process and its still hard work but I know that I'm establishing a genuine foundation of strength, perceptual speed and lucidity that is gradually eradicating the doubt, confusion and murky emotions I had become so accustomed to experiencing - replacing them with a sense of purpose and excitement that I now feel equipped to protect and nurture!
The information is certainly layered and encoded, informing the mind and enlivening realisations and memories on first encounter, then revealing deeper and more profound revellations as life and time collide with the implanted knowledge to explode into the most liberating understandings of what the *x@# is going on around here! It is intensely exciting and I just can't wait for this phenomena to become widespread so we can gather a fresh new momentum en masse.

This review is from: The Art of Stalking Parallel Perception: The Living Tapestry of Lujan Matus (Paperback)
I've read this book three times and the third time I read it something incredible clicked inside of me. I am suddenly energetically more alive because of applying the concepts in this book to my life. I cannot understand the negative comments of the previous reviewer. They blatantly state to have only read the excerpts but then make comments regarding the readability of the book when they haven't even read it! I did find this book challenging and quite honestly it was not what I expected. It is different to Castaneda's works but that does not mean it's inferior. On the contrary after reading this book I find it difficult to read Castaneda's books because they seem not as hard hitting on an emotional level. The first time I read the book it affected me so deeply that I didn't think I could stand reading it again. But I persisted because I needed to change my emotional stuckness. I am giving it five stars because it deserves it and like all the other reviewers I believe it is changing my life.

5.0 out of 5 stars A book full of priceless gems, June 15, 2005
This review is from: The Art of Stalking Parallel Perception: The Living Tapestry of Lujan Matus (Paperback)
Since reading The Art of Stalking Parallel Perception it has been continually working its magic in my everday life. The words and images conjured by Lujan Matus and his cohorts appear daily in my consciousness to enliven new awareness and perspectives into my circumstances and give me insights as to how I can proceed in the most energetically beneficial way. I have seen myself making quantum leaps recently in terms of personal development and this book plays an inestimable role in that transformation. When I recommend the book and people ask me to what it is about I find myself at a loss to encompass its range and depth with any kind of summary, then later in conversation I feel I must sound like I've joined some kind of cult as I excitedly refer to parts of the book in relation to so many different topics of discussion. Its not that kind of book though, there is no inherent demand to subscribe to any kind of ideology apart from principles of personal integrity and the willingness to grow beyond where you are. The book is about living: our multidimensional existence, dreaming, behaviour and communication, sexual practices, heiroglyphs that are keys to our present evolutionary location - even Jesus, kung fu and one very powerful ancient Mongolian shaman form part of this phenomanal narrative. All these elements are seamlessly presented in a direct and immediate manner that, while often introducing frankly mind-bending concepts and frequently providing a big slap in the face to devious behaviours, ultimately rings true in a way that is unmistakable to anyone who dares to enter.

The limitations which we are presented with on the journey of life has blocked the magic and beauty we inherently possess. For me however, this has begun to dissolve by the light, truth and integrity that surrounds Lujan Matus which is ever present in the pages of this book.

Upon reading "The Art Of Stalking Parallel Perception" I took a journey and am still journeying into magical realms which I had been blinded to by forced socialisation and inherited energetic imprints.

This book is so practical in its application that it applies to all situations, past and present that we are presented with in this life. This book has such a strong interpersonal essence that every time I read just one page it resonates with truth and clarity to my current life situation.

"The Art Of Stalking Parallel Perception" holds the key to endless possibilities as it takes you on a journey to pure freedom.
