an excellent place to start,
This review is from: The Art of Storytelling (Paperback)
I believe the earlier prints of this book were called "Storytelling and the Art of Imagination". This book outlines various essential parts of a story, characters and how they have been traditionally used, symbolism associated with characters and settings, and examples from folktales. After reading this you may never look at fairytales in the same way again. It encourages you to write for yourself, and those you love, and gives examples of how people who have attended her classes have achieved personal healing by putting their own difficulties in a written (or verbal) fantasy form. I found it personally inspiring.
