A must read!!,

This review is from: The Art Of Temping (Paperback)
I have recently read this book and thought it to be very insightful. What a pleasure it would be to have a temp who knew all of these little secrets to making the best of a temporary situation. All Admin Assistants should also read this book to make your situation a little better and you will be more appreciated!!

Not a full sized book, more of a "quick tips" guide,

After reading the reviews above I was looking forward to settling in with a nice hot beverage and absorbing wisdom after a long, hard day of temping. Well last night this book arrived and I tore it open with eager anticipation to find basically a bunch of Post-It notes bound together and sold as a book. The author does have a few positive and helpful hints--such as a checklist for receptionists, but caveat emptor: each page is either a one line comment or a badly drawn sketch of women golfing or a maze or something equally out of place. Most of the "insights" are truly lame, i.e. "Pamper yourself by bringing antique chopsticks if eating Chinese" or "Wardobe: black/brown/red/grey suits etc. and several linen shirts in the finest fabrics, of course" (paraphrase as the book is at home but you get the idea.) Overall given her background the author could have provided a much more substantive read with real advice for temps or those considering temping. What she delivers is a cutesy little flip-through guide that takes 5 minutes to read.

A book everyone employed should read,

I am a nurse but happened to read Molly's book in a friend's car. I recently took a new part time job and was thrown into a work situation in which I knew very little and would be constantly moved around the facility. I got through the first day telling myself things from this book like: "they will never give you enough information" "Do your best because why not" I went back and reread the book. Even though I am a nurse, I was a temp and found the book not only helpful but inspiring. In today's world, secretaries are not the only temps. - we almost all are!
