This review is from: Art of Two-Line Improvisation Book/CD Set (Paperback)
I was a student at Guitar Institute of Technology in 1980 when Jimmy was teaching there - he quietly taught the whole first class without introducing himself! This book is largely his studies that he wrote to lead himself into a way of composing and improvising using the symetric diminished scale, among others, and will give a bluesy yet otherworldly modern classical feeling to the player that can hang in with the reading.

At the time I orignally bought this, there were some mistakes in the transcription, so if they haven't corrected them the CD that comes with this is vital for it's interpretation. Jimmy taught me most of my foundation of right hand fingerpicking independence with this book, I highly recommend it for anyone that want their hands and their ears to get a challange!

5.0 out of 5 stars Jimmy Wyble's Art, October 25, 2007

This review is from: Art of Two-Line Improvisation Book/CD Set (Paperback)
Jimmy Wyble is back teaching at the Guitar Institute of Technology at Musicians Institue in Hollywood, CA. He has come back to share his unique Two-Line approach to many students, including myself, in his class and his open counseling sessions.
If you can't afford to get out to Hollywood and attend GIT, your best bet is this: buy this book and some of his CDs.
Jimmy's approach is both unique and beautiful. The Art of playing melody, chords, and bass lines is one that many guitar players wish they could do properly. And this book is one small step.
There are a few errors in the music, and Jimmy himself has admitted so, but the idea and concept is there.
Are you looking for something new to add to you arsenal...pick up this book.

I bought this book/cassette set when it first came out. It really improved my playing and improvisational abilities. I heartily recommend it.
