I have been tying trout flies for many years. This year my brother bought a cottage on a lake. His grand kids wanted to know if I could tie them some bass lures. This book is a MUST read if your going to tie bass bugs or pan fish bugs. I must admit I have been up to my neck in dear hair for a week now. I think I'm going with the kids and fish these bugs. Again, if you are tying pan fish bait this is the book to have...

4.0 out of 5 stars beautiful, November 9, 2006
This review is from: The Art of Tying the Bass Fly (Spiral-bound)
I am a novice, but this book is for everyone. I did have to go out and buy a a few things, but who shouldn't. I loved the photos and the narration and there is nothing like cathing a two pound bream or sunfish, whichever you prefer on a three weight fly rod on a fly that I tied! Even better is when a four pound Bass wants to get involved, which is what happened on my last excursion (sorry trout guys!).

5.0 out of 5 stars The correct way to tie bass flies., September 6, 2010
This review is from: The Art of Tying the Bass Fly (Spiral-bound)
This book was given to me as a gift some time ago. I started to tie flies again and it really came in handy. Deer hair is something you do not want to try without the right information.
After reading and folowing the techniques and illistrations in this book the quality of my flies had made huge improvements. It really gives good step by step instructions that make sence and is easy to follow. I have added it to my library of information any find myself refering to it again and again, simetimes for guidence, sometimes just for insperation.

The Art of Tying the Bass Fly: Flies for Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, and Pan Fish

Skip Morris has done it again! This is a must have, for anyone interested in learning to spin deerhair onto a hook to make bass ATTACK! These spun patterns take patience, but... with a little practice they will be the envy of all of your fly tying friends, especially when they see the Bass hitting your hook at your next fishing meet. This is the real deal, the best written and photographed how too I've ever seen for spinning deer hair on a hook.

Skip Morris is by far the best fly tying instruction book writer that I have ever had the pleasure of reading. I hope to meet Skip someday out on the water and personaly thank him for making my time at the tying bench more enjoyable and my time on the water more productive.
