5.0 out of 5 stars Grandmother who loves these cards, July 22, 2009
This review is from: The Art of Vintage Marvel: 100 Collectible Postcards (Cards)
I love how they are in a box tied with a ribbon. They are easy to store and have easy access to them and they won't be damaged when I mail them out to my grandsons. I live far from my grandchildren and I send them postcards a lot to let them know I always think about them and that I love them. I try to get postcards that would interest them, nothing boring. They don't care what I say on the back of the card, they care about what the picture is and that is my goal. I search high and wide for non-boring postcards and this set here has given me 100 mailings to my grandsons. I love them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great addition to any Marvel Fan Boy's shelf, May 6, 2009

This boxed set of 100 postcards (no repeats) are of Marvel Comics covers, primarily from the silver and bronze age. It's a varied selection of titles, including the major silver age first issue covers, but also various 70's and 80's, for example, the Avengers cards are issues: 1, 4, 57, 94, 129, 144, 170, 181, 213, and Giant Size 4.

I gave this a four instead of a five for two reasons - primarily because the edges are "clipped" so that the image fills the size of the card, but obviously is a different aspect ratio (I would have preferred a smaller image with a white border so I could frame them more easily), and they are a matte finish instead of that VF+ gloss. On the up side, the are packaged in a very nice, durable box with a ribbon to assist getting them out of the box. Despite this, this is still a must for any serious marvel collector.

I am no expert on postcards. I do not collect them on a serious level. Nor am I an expert on Marvel. I just love getting things in the mail and believe that postcards are a tradition that should be revived.
That being said, I loved this collection! 100 postcards, each a different comic book cover, packed in a really lovely box that I'll be sure to keep long after the cards have all been sent. The colors are crisp, the images bright and fun, and (a nice extra!) on the back of each card is a light sepia colored image that corresponds with the front of the card.
I agree with the previous reviewer that the cards would have looked a little better if the images were not trimmed to fit the card, but were instead made smaller with a white border. BUT, as someone who bought these to send to friends and not necessarily to display, it does not bother me too much. I look forward to sending these to everyone I know, and would CERTAINLY recommend them for anyone wanting to do the same.
