That I was asking for! By far one of Vader's best releases. Whenever i listen to this EP, my speakers need to turned up all the way. Every song is perfect. Great blast beats, solos and the vocals are just killer. Vader is still at the top of their game and this EP definitely showcases that. Overall an excellent death metal release.

Vader's 2005 release, "The Art Of War," is only six songs and fourteen and a half minutes long; but it is only an EP. It's just a nice little snack to tide fans over until the band's next full length. Plus, these six songs are great! The first and fourth songs are pretty, interlude-type tracks, with wind wooshes and--what sounds like--an orchestra; but every other song is loaded with cast-iron riffs, searing solos, walloping drums, and vocals which are deep but still decipherable.
"This Is The War" boasts machine gun riffs and a rhythmic snare drum pattern. Next, "Lead Us!!!" (and the album closer, "Death In Silence") have a catchy beat with choppy, pounding riffs; and, lastly, track five, "What Colour Is Your Blood?" builds well, from a mid-tempo chug to a blinding, buzzsaw guitar attack. For anyone who is unsure about how death metal should be played, proceed directly to "The Art Of War." It makes for a great listen, and it's also doubtlessly the best EP to be released in all of 2005.

Wow the mighty Vader returns. Even though I really enjoyed the Beast I had thought they lost some of their edge and brutality. Rest assured that is not the case w/this ep. This is truly one of the most brutal pieces of music I have heard in a long time and I think it's Vader's best release. The 4 new songs are great. This is the war is the opening song and is beyond fast and heavy. The next track Lead Us!! is so damn heavy and fast and catchy. I really could not believe it. The riff during the grind parts and chorus is chunky and catchy. If you loved Vader in all their brutality this will surprise you as to how much more brutal this is than some of their earlier work. I guess they were sick of hearing how Behemoth were taking over their brutality throne and decided to up the ante. Yes this release is even more brutal than Demigod from Behemoth. The musicianship on this cd is as usual top notch. The new drummer again proves himself on this that he is capable of taking the duties of Doc (RIP), and has a few tricks up his sleeve too. Anyway if you want some face ripping brutal Death Metal that will crush everything in its path pick this up. You won't regret it!!!!!

First of all it appears to be a very short album, and indeed it is... But I would say that in this case "great things did came on a small package".
The Art of War it's a powerful album with one of Vader's greatest songs: This is the War. I liked the fact that album has an amazing intro and it does a great job getting you hyped for "Battle" (This is the War). I like the changes between tracks and in my opinion this album it's worth listening. Viva Vader!!! |
