Book Description

August 1, 1993
The painted illusion of woodgraining can turn an ordinary room into a grand "woodpanelled" setting, or transform a run of cheap malamine cupboards into elegant "mahogany." This book explains the techniques necessary to simulate many hardwoods and softwoods, and shows how to create fantasy effects. Advice is given on transforming floors, woodwork, walls, furniture, and more. Among the topics covered are basic techniques; specific simulations, including ash, oak, mahogany, maple, rosewood, bamboo, teak and pine; and planning a panelling system.

3.0 out of 5 stars Well, if you like oil based...., May 21, 2001
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Art of Woodgraining (Paperback)
Having come from professional education of faux finishes utilizing water based products, this book leaves me with much to experiment with to adjust the recipes to water based products from the instructed oil based recipes in the book. Very detailed and beautiful marbling effects. Sienna, serpentine, yellow onyx, black marble and more are illustrated and fully instructed. Great pictures of faux marble finishes in lovely rooms to stimulate the imagination. I would really like to see a book with the great finishes using water based products. With today's great new glazes...I know it can be done

This review is from: The Art of Woodgraining (Paperback)
This book is very helpful. I have a full automotive restoration shop and needed information on woodgraining as I will be doing a partial restoraton on a 1941 Packard and it involves woodgraining on the interior.
