great read,
This review is from: The Art of being a Healing Presence (Paperback)
This book is a great read for those in a care giving role, whether personally or professionally. It is very easy reading, and hits home. It is a very simple technique, you are probably already engaged in some of the tasks it takes to be a healing presence, but may not realize it.

Amazing, easy to read, offering instructions on how to become healing presence for others. I was drawn to this book after being given the gift of healing presence by a hospital Chaplain after losing a baby. This is the real macoy!

The Art of being a Healing Presence
"...what a healer is. It's someone, who can see your movement toward wholeness more clearly than you're able to yourself at a given point in time." This is a simple and easy to understand description of how to create healing space and provide a healing presence. It is a beautiful book in its simplicity. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to be a helpful presence. Mike

This review is from: The Art of being a Healing Presence (Paperback)
This little book is a gold mine of helpful information. The lessons it teaches are useful not only for nurses and pastors dealing with persons at the end of their lives, but for anyone seeking to learn how to counter society's push in the direction of anxiety, stress and anger. It is well-written, with a slow ,thought-provoking pace, liberally sprinkled with pertinent quotations. Thank you.

This book is written simply and is an easy, enjoyable read- I read it in one day! The author does a great job expanding on the things we already know but often overlook. The material is so elementary but the book addresses our tendencies to over complicate things. The author also addresses spiritual issues that can be easily applied to any level of spiritual or religious beliefs! This is a fantastic book for ANYONE involved in any kind of relationship!

This is a concise, and insightful book on how to be an effective companion, an active and caring listener. The authors have taken their experiences and given a compassionate and knowlegable summary of the how to's when dealing with others who are in emotional, psychological and spiritual suffering. I have gone through Stephen Ministry training and I think this just about summarized the 50 hrs. of training! A wonderful resource for those in almost every ministry!

Solid reading but not as much "how to" details as I would have liked to see in a book geared towards helping people learn how to interact with the dying.

I give this book out to my compassionate companions after the No One Dies Alone Training that I coordinate at my hospital. These volunteers sit vigil with a dying patient that has no family or friends to be with them at their time of death. It is a great help to them in learning how to be a healing presence.

"Simply profound",

I was introduced to this book through a CPE experience and immediately appreciated it's simplicity but also its profound message. I've brought several copies to share with friends who are also involved in ministry. It's so easy to read and discuss with others---adding to the enrichment that is already contained in this little book!
