5.0 out of 5 stars Simple, Functional, and Well Priced
I bought the pepper grinder along with the matching salt grinder as a gift. They have a clean, simple look to them and they do the job of grinding well, especially for the price. As a note, I prefer a fairly coarse grind, so haven't tried to set them for a very fine grind. I like these well enough that I'll probably buy a pair for myself, too.

Like another reviewer I had a problem with the first pepper shaker arriving broken. The bottom was off & I could not get it back together. Of course Amazon promptly replaced it. I have the salt and pepper shaker. These do not come with instructions. They came in a plastic zip bag. Each is filled with salt and pepper. Like another reviewer, I could not figure out how to refill it. I removed the bottom - wrong thing to do! Apparently I will never get it back together. In the meantime, I took the other shaker and twisted the top counter-clockwise for what seemed like forever and it finally came off. This is how you do it - twist off the top. Unforturnately the other shaker is ruined. It's too bad, these are really cute, but I guess I will have to pay quite a bit more to get something better quality & less aggravating. Maybe they would have worked for me if I had gotten instructions.

Comfortable to use and exactly what I expected! Grinds pepper in a flash and does so evenly -- doesn't drop uneven pieces down on my food.

Small grinder that is light to the touch. I was hoping for a bit grittier grind and could not really figure out the adjustment easily. This ended up being too much of a light weight for my at stove needs, but does fine at the the table.

Needed a new pepper grinder & chose this one, along with the matching salt grinder. Nice design, easy to use, and seem very durable.

I've been intending to get a pepper grinder for some while, as I've been needing more flavor in my food. The pre-ground pepper wasn't doing it for me anymore. I had to add a ridiculous amount just to get a hint of pepper flavor. It was time for freshly ground. I was looking at battery powered grinders also, but seriously, grinding pepper is not that hard (unless you have carpal tunnel).

I personally prefer the plastic pepper grinders because I have this theory that wooden grinders might accumulate moisture and start to grow moldy. I don't have any evidence to back this theory up, but I would figure that a plastic container is less likely to have mold or bacteria growth.

The good thing about this grinder is that it has ceramic grinding stones instead of the old metal grinders, which can corrode and rust. I don't know about you, but I don't want to eat rust. It also has a grind size knob that clicks in place and doesn't loosen, giving you consistently sized pepper grinds. This feature is a plus.

The design is nice also, but I didn't really buy this grinder for its looks.

Old concept, good product.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent Quality for Price, Poor Pepper, December 12, 2010

Personally I thought this pepper mill worked great, and seems like it will last. My wife however is not a fan, and thinks it grinds the pepper too fine. This is a matter of preference obviously and not an issue with the quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, functional and very reasonably priced, July 20, 2010

I ordered this pepper grinder because I liked the looks of it, I liked that you can vary the grind, and the price was reasonable. We own two other pepper grinders, but neither one works very well, especially for cooking. The kind that have the little bead that screws on the top I find only work for a few grinds before the bead loosens and needs to be tightened. With this type of grinder, you can just keep turning the top and it will keep releasing pepper. It is easy to refill, which is a good thing, because since we bought this one - I have had to refill it twice. My partner thought the last thing we needed was another pepper grinder, but I noticed that neither one of us is using the others at this point. The price is very reasonable for such a lovely and functional piece of kitchen or dining room equipment. Very highly recommended.

1.0 out of 5 stars Arrived broken, cheap quality, August 13, 2010

When I removed the pepper grinder from its plastic wrapping, the bottom of the grinder promptly fell out and peppercorns shot to every corner of my house. There was either something missing or broken because it was impossible to get the unit to stay together. Although totally secondary to the design quality problem, I also must note that the item is made of fairly cheap, light plastic and is a good inch shorter than I was expecting. I do not recommend this product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bottom falling out, January 24, 2011

These grinders are terrible. I ordered 2 sets in October. So far, the bottoms on both pepper grinders have fallen out dispersing pepper kernels all over kitchen floor. While the grinding mechanisms seem good, the integrity of the total unit is lacking. I would not recommend them...even at their low price.
