Fun & Beautiful Invitations,
By Andrella "craftyandy" (Philadelphia, PA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Artful Bride: Wedding Invitations: A Stylish Bride's Guide to Simple, Handmade Wedding Correspondence (Paperback)
The projects in this book range from fun and quirky (like my favorite - The Bride in a Can) to beautiful and classy. There are ideas here for weddings on the beach, old fashioned weddings, nuptials that include travel, and for simple ceremonies too. A lot of the ides in this book could be converted for use for other kinds of invitations, I used one of the pretty ones to make invitations to a party for my mother's birthday. Lots of color photos inside (nicer than the photo on the cover would make you think!) There are also illustrations & templates. I also gave this book as an engagement gift to a friend and not only did she love the gift, she made her invitations based on a project in the book.

I have FINALLY found invitations I love,
This review is from: The Artful Bride: Wedding Invitations: A Stylish Bride's Guide to Simple, Handmade Wedding Correspondence (Paperback)
I have been looking at invitations, and haven't found anything that is quite right. Not to mention everything is very pricey. I would much rather cut the price of the invitations and spend the money saved there on other wedding expenses. I have been looking at kits. I never really found anything that suited us. They were plain and not very origional. So I have been looking online for ideas and I saw this book. I love it! It has wonderful ideas, easy directions, and great pictures. We decided to take one of the invitations and change it a little to better fit us and what we are looking for. It really is wonderful because you don't have to follow the directions exactly, you can change the color/pattern, or just ad your own special touch!

Beautiful & Creative Ideas,

This review is from: The Artful Bride: Wedding Invitations: A Stylish Bride's Guide to Simple, Handmade Wedding Correspondence (Paperback)
I've never understood why folks will shell out the big bucks for what they could more or less do on their home printer -- pretty, but bland. This book has beautiful, personal invitations ranging from the offbeat to the traditional (my favorite is the frog idea). Making invitations yourself doesn't mean sacrificing style or tradition, and this book is an excellent starting point.

Wedding Invitations,
This review is from: The Artful Bride: Wedding Invitations: A Stylish Bride's Guide to Simple, Handmade Wedding Correspondence (Paperback)
I was looking for more formal invitation options. The term "artful" is correct in the title, for they were crafty. I did not find them to be "stylish" according to my taste.

I think this book has great ideas and styles for everyone. Some of the ideas are very simple that anyone could do (I am not an artsy/creative person at all), while other ideas are for the more crafty person.
This book was so helpful to me, I saved a lot of money and my invitations are much more personable and more my style than anything I could have bought at a store.

This is a nice book. However, it would have been even better if there were more invitation styles included in the book.

This book has a lot of creative ideas for sending out your standard wedding invitation. None of them are extremely hard (though I would skip the one that has your photo plastered onto some sort of zippered card).

There were a couple cute ideas in this book, but overall I found it dated looking and very impractical. You can find a lot of better ideas online, for free. If you're going to invite 15 people to your wedding and hand-deliver the invitations then you should get this book. Am I going to send my invitations on wine bottles or with a sewn zipper? Not likely. The amount of time to create these is ridiculous and the mailing would be prohibitively expensive or impossible. I thought it funny that the authors include a note about how you shouldn't devote your existence to ephemeral invitations that most people are going to discard . . . and then tell you to spend half an hour crafting a pop-up bride in a can invite that will cost you $6 to mail.I think a lot of these invites are better suited to small parties.

This is a really cute book and I finally feel like I have invitation options that aren't from a company cookie cutter. There are several practical invitation ideas in this book and ranges of skill level. There are also some invitation ideas that are only practical if you are only inviting a few (less than twenty or so) guests, like the bride in a can and message in a bottle invitations. It's fun and unique, just like my fiance and I.
