5.0 out of 5 stars the best of the best, June 1, 2001
The Artful Dodger have no doubt been the main driving force behind today's UK garage. Their debut single - "rewind" featuring Craig David stormed the charts and radio stations across the UK and into many parts of Europe. This paved the way for a string of hits that followed. Their first main compilation album "rewind" was also a big hit, fueling the return of this masterpiece. This album is by far the best album that I own, and I'm sure that anyone who loves garage would appreciate that no other album of 2000 was able to bring together such a wicked collection of hits. On the album you'll find remixes of sisqo's "thong song", All Saint's "i know where it is", and Shola Ama's "Imagine" - the anthem of all garage music. Three artful dodger tracks are also featured on the album, so if you like the sound of those then be sure to check out their recently released debut album - "It's All About The Stragglers". I would strongely recommend this album to anyone who is getting into the sound or experimenting something a little different from the house and techno wave that has been so huge. Oh by the way - America and Canada, you have been warned, these guys will be huge over the forthcoming year, I guarantee it

5.0 out of 5 stars The Artful Dodger Brings Back The Real Taste Of Garage Music, May 6, 2004
Having been a huge garage fan back in the day of its popularity and also having bought their first compilation a year earlier, The Artful Dodger have once again mixed up a great collection of the UK's finest garage groups such as Robbie Craig, Lenny Fontana and the classic from B-15 Project.

Before the take-over by England's big record label heads who turned garage into pop music garbage, this album showed people the real sound of traditional UK garage music over two discs of consistantly addictive beats and exceptional MC'sing skills. The whole compilation is a highlight and will be looked upon as one of those that showed people what the real sound of garage is.

A work of art.

3.0 out of 5 stars fresh from the uk., March 31, 2001
By "angelicmel" (stevenage, herts England) - See all my reviews
the artful dodger are one of the biggest two step djs in the uk at the moment along with m.j. cole, the architechs and truesteppers, they have been creeping into the charts with a refreshing blend of r&b, with drum and bases undertones that make you want to dance all night. if your bored of the formula of most current u.s. r&b and hip hop, then this will certainly be a refreshing change. originally designed for the clubs it has a more upbeat tempo and launched the career of craig david. i think it's great to hear this sort of music and that it is from my home country makes it even better.
