Helps you solve the problem, not medicate your symptoms,
By A Customer
This review is from: Arthritis and Common Sense (Fireside Books (Holiday House)) (Paperback)
I am 32 years old and have rheumatoid arthritis. Many doctors have tried Ansaid-type medication on me, and it has not helped. Dale Alexander is one of the few MD's who has actually taken the time to research the impact nutrition has on arthritis, and it is significant. This book tells you what you can eat (fish oil) to stem the tide of arthritis, and what not to eat so you don't aggravate it (sugar, highly acidic foods.)

Old & in the Way is wrong!,
By Bob in PA (PA) - See all my reviews

This book saved my life! I highly reccomend it! 20 yrs ago when I was 30 I could barely walk. I was always in so much pain... every dang joint in my body! Now I am totally healthy at 50!!! The book does talk about exercise... not to do it unless your joints are oiled!! It would be like starting a car without oil... the moving parts would be damaged. Exercise when you're healed! Follow the guidelines in this book & your joints will be oiled! It worked for me! I just wonder where I would be today without my dad giving me this book 20 yrs ago.

Real help for arthritis,
By A Customer
This review is from: Arthritis and Common Sense (Fireside Books (Holiday House)) (Paperback)
When I was in my mid-20's, I was diagnosed with gout. Although I received medication, there wasn't much improvement. Fortunately, my aunt loaned me her copy of this book. Within days, the gout was gone, simply due to following some of the basics in the book. However, what I didn't know was why she believed in this book so strongly. Years before my gout, my aunt had suffered terribly from arthritis. She was so crippled with it that she couldn't even bathe herself. Despite extensive medication, all the doctors could do was help alleviate her pain, but were unable to cure the arthritis, itself. Out of desperation, she bought this book. To everyone's amazement, not only was she able to start taking care of herself again, she started going on walks. Up until the time she died in her 80's, she used to walk for over a mile a day. Please, do yourself a favor if you suffer from arthritis and buy this book.

Covers every aspect of what to do and how to do it in overcoming the pain of Arthritis. There are simple everyday things that really do help.....read it and see!!!! Interesting as well as informative, a must for any sufferer in my opinion.

Arthritis and Common Sense,

When my grandfather wrote this book, my mother was just two years old. I know a lot has changed in the world of medicine and scientific discovery has improved all of our lives, but one constant remains, nothing is better for preventing a problem or solving one than good common sense. My grandfather was well ahead of his time, his theories teach people that a simple solution is often times the best solution. Now almost 50 years later, evidence and testimonials have proven him to be right, and because it is in all of our best interests to protect our joints and our bodies, take this book home and read through it.

All Arthritics Need This Book,

As a young woman in the 1970's my doctor told me he could not help me with my arthritis. That I should go to the library and get a book called,
"Arthritis and Common Sense" by Dale Alexander. I purchased a copy. Followed the plan and was up and about in 6 weeks! I have been able to manage my arthritis for 40 years by following this advice. Now I buy copies and send to my friends that are having a struggle. I always hope and pray that they will get as much benefit from it as I have. I am so glad that it is still available at amazon.com. I have one thing to add in my experience about taking the codliver oil. If you take it at night on an empty stomach before going to bed, you will not have to deal with belching or burping the fish oil all day. That makes it much more tolerable to take on a daily basis.

Best book I ever read on arthritis,
This review is from: Arthritis and common sense (Hardcover)
This book is amazing! The author goes into detail about how food affects arthritis - and how it can cure it. Which food is good for you, which is bad, and why certain food/drinks have to be taken at a certain time. For example, orange juice is bad for you (the person who is suffering from arthritis), but orange slices are good. Cold milk is bad for you - lukewarm milk is beneficial. He even mentions that cigarettes can be smoked in moderation, which is unthinkable nowadays :). But one must bear in mind that this book was written in the 1950's. The language is simple - no fancy terms, just plain, simple English, easy to understand, and it makes so much sense! I absolutely love this book and can HIGHLY recommend it. It is a MUST READ for everyone who is suffering from arthritis.

I can't give my review, because I haven't rec'd my books yet. I've contacted both sellers. One seller has been extremely helpful, and is resending the book this week. However, I haven't received a return email from betterworldbooks.
This has been a very frustrating, month long ordeal. I'm anxious to receive the ( 2 ) copies of Arthritis And Common Sense, so I can share the information with people who have arthritis. Elaine Leax
