5.0 out of 5 stars Arthur's Eyes, August 10, 2010

This review is from: Arthur: Arthur's Eyes (DVD)
Arthur is one of the most successful children's shows of all time, but why? There is a simple answer to that question, it's entertaining. We all know children ages four and under are attracted to colors and silly characters, and parents love these shows because they can get stuff done while their child is entranced by the colors, but what will their kids watch when they start getting older? And that's why Arthur is so great, to me and too many others. Children love Arthur and parents actually enjoy watching it, Arthur really is funny. And it's educational to, it's just subtle, nowadays they just flat out say it "what did you learn today?" "I learned that duh, duh, duh, and duh, duh, duh." For me, Arthur "is" my childhood, but animated. I had a popular friend just like Francine, a goofy friend like Buster, a shy friend like George and I could really relate with Arthur, and that's why this show was and still is SO special to me. And many of these stories helped me get over problems I was having at school.

Now let's talk about these DVD releases of Arthur. Each Arthur DVD includes three stories which is incredibly measly, (that's only forty minutes!) and in this day and age, can't Sony Wonders at least put five to ten stories on one DVD? So yes, if you buy these DVD's you are spending to much, so is it worth it? That's up to you, Arthur is a fantastic show but there are re-runs on PBS almost all the time. But if you just want to watch an episode of Arthur whenever you feel like it, then I would recommend these DVD's. On this particular DVD there are three stories and they are;

Arthur's Eyes

Francine's Bad Hair Day

Draw

(There are also trailers for other DVD releases of Arthur.)

I can really relate to the story "Arthur's Eyes" because I was dreading going to school when I first got my glasses and a few kids made fun of me, and the advice given through these stories are great and not only are they educational but most importantly they're entertaining. If parents are skeptical about buying Arthur please listen to me, I grew up with Arthur and this show is fantastic for kids and to tell you the truth great for adults as well. So would I recommend Arthur? Heck yes! Would I recommend these DVD's? Well, they're way to short for the given price, but these stories are so fantastic that I'd say yes, go buy these DVD's, your kids will fall in love with Arthur, and maybe you will too.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Arthur's Eyes" is very deja vu!, May 25, 2009

This review is from: Arthur: Arthur's Eyes (DVD)
"Arthur's Eyes" is a video based on Marc Brown's adventures of the eight year old aardvark. This video includes three episodes: "Arthur's Eyes", which really really takes me back to being teased when I got my first pair of glasses in Jr. High; "Francine's Bad Hair Day", it's picture day @ Elwood Elem. and Muffy tries to 'glamorize' Francine(Miss Tomboy!)so she'll have a nice, attractive elem. picture. Very Funny! Third: "Draw", Elwood Elem. is having a 'Teacher Appreciation Carnival' and Francine ridicules Fern for liking Mr. Ratburn's puppet show. Hurt Fern retaliates by drawing a very unflattering caricature of Francine. All of there friends begin to make fun of Francine and she begins to realize that it hurts one's feelings when she makes fun of others for having different likes.
I checked out this video from the library first, as I did all of the "Arthur" dvds. I recommend this so that a person can decide if they want to make it part of one's personal collection. I am creating a personal "Arthur" collection for my grandson because he loves "Arthur"(he's three and a half!). Now, I'm buying it. I have bought over $250 worth of videos through Amazon, which has the best prices.
I hope that this review will help others make an informed decision.
