3.0 out of 5 stars Roots of Evil, June 15, 2000
By
"apehlke" (United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Roots of Evil [VHS] (VHS Tape)
ROOTS OF EVIL is like two movies throw together to save time, money, and film. The result is something that is not quite as good as it could have been. The plot concerns two detectives on the trail of a drug lord's killer, as well as a serial killer that is targeting hookers. Trying to track down the culprits leads them to a variety of seedy locations (the highlight of the movie is a scene on the set of a B-movie, that parodys the genre so well you can't help but laugh). The film also includes tons of gratuitous sex and nudity, so if that's what you're looking for this is for you. But if you are looking for something more suspensful and a bit more coherent, you'd best keep looking, though for those of us with tastes that are not that discriminating, you might have some fun.

2.0 out of 5 stars not unrated, November 6, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Roots of Evil [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This video may be more enjoyable if you find the unrated version, which has about three more minutes.

3.0 out of 5 stars I'll Take This "B" Movie Over A Coma Anyday, September 18, 2005
This review is from: Roots of Evil [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I've seen hundreds of Sci Fi/Horror movies over the years. This is one of those you'll wonder whether you've watched it or not a few years down the road. You just can't remember.

All in all, I figure it's still better to watch a so-so Sci Fi/Horror movie than "Dances With Wolves" or "Evita". This movie will end up being non-memorable, but it's preferable to being in a coma.
