Written by Academy Award® nominated scribe Becky Johnston (Seven Years in Tibet), ARTHUR NEWMAN follows the mid-life travails of sad sack Wallace Avery (Colin Firth). Refusing to face a life he hates, he stages his own death and buys himself a new identity as Arthur Newman. However, Arthur s road trip towards a new life is interrupted by the arrival of the beautiful but fragile Mike (Emily Blunt), who is also trying to leave her past behind. Drawn to one another, these two damaged souls begin to connect as they break into empty homes and take on the identities of the absent owners. Through this process, Arthur and Mike discover that what they love most about each other are the identities they left at home, and their real journey begins.

Colin Andrew Firth, CBE (born 10 September 1960) is an English film, television, and theatre actor. His films have earned more than $936 million from 42 releases worldwide. He has received an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, a BAFTA and the Screen Actors Guild Award, as well as the Volpi Cup. His most notable and acclaimed role to date has been his 2011 portrayal of King George VI in The King's Speech, a performance that gained him an Oscar and many other worldwide best actor awards. It went on to gross $414,211,549 worldwide. Identified in the late 1980s with the 'Brit Pack' of new young British actors headed by Gary Oldman, Firth's rise to stardom progressed at a slower pace than many of his contemporaries. It was not until his portrayal of Mr. Darcy in the 1995 television adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice that Firth became a household name. The show was a hit in the UK and USA and established him as a light comic leading man. This led to roles in films such as The English Patient, Bridget Jones's Diary (for which he was nominated for a BAFTA), Shakespeare in Love and Love Actually. In 2010 he received widespread critical acclaim for his leading role in A Single Man, for which Firth gained his first Academy Award nomination, and won a BAFTA Award. In 2011, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was also selected as one of The Time 100. He was awarded an honorary degree from the University of Winchester in 2007, and was made a Freeman of the City of London in 2012. Firth has campaigned for the rights of indigenous tribal peoples and is a member of Survival International. He has also campaigned on issues of asylum seekers and refugees' rights and the environment. Firth commissioned and is credited as a co-author on a scientific paper on a study into the differences in brain structure between people of differing political orientations.
Anne Celeste Heche (born May 25, 1969) is an American actress, director, and screenwriter. She started her career at age 18 on the daytime soap opera Another World, for which she received a Daytime Emmy Award in 1991. Heche gradually obtained supporting roles in feature films such as I Know What You Did Last Summer and Volcano (both 1997). Her first leading role was in Six Days Seven Nights (1998) which has remained her most high-profile film role to date. That same year, she starred in the critically acclaimed film Return to Paradise, which was her second (and last) leading role in a theatrical film to date. Following a supporting role in John Q. (2002), she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for her performance in the TV movie Gracie's Choice (2004). From 2006 to 2008, she starred in her own TV series, Men in Trees. Her most recent film credits include Spread (2009), The Other Guys (2010), and Cedar Rapids (2011). She had a supporting role in the 2009 2011 HBO cable TV series Hung. As Heche was beginning to establish herself in films during the late 1990s, her career was negatively affected by her highly publicized same-sex relationship with Ellen DeGeneres, and resulted in Heche losing film offers. In 2001, following her break-up with DeGeneres, Heche married cameraman Coley Laffoon, with whom she has a son. Since their separation in 2007 (they divorced in 2009), she has lived with actor James Tupper, with whom she also has a son.
Mr. Firth is a fine actor and I have seen him perform in number of films which were exceptionally well done. This one was not. It was an utter disappointment. Read morePublished 9 days ago by John A. Leraas

Wish I could say differently; but this disjointed story can't be enlivened even with two award-winners as leads. The dialogue is plodding and awkward. Read morePublished 7 months ago by hmn
