Whether they've just become big siblings for the first time or have a slew of sisters and brothers crawling around underfoot, young readers will love lifting the flaps to learn about what to expect with a new baby. Pretty soon, they may even embrace their role, when they start introducing Sis or Junior to the delights of Humpty Dumpty, the ABCs, and dress-up. Most importantly, readers will be reminded that they are still loved, even if the baby seems to be getting an awful lot of attention.
Marc Brown, creator of the world's favorite aardvark, Arthur (Arthur's New Puppy, Arthur's Birthday), offers a lighthearted, sensitive, and humorous perspective on the sometimes traumatic new-baby event. With more than 40 flaps to lift, including alphabet blocks (p is for pacifier, n is for night-light) and baby gifts, as well as holes to make wiggling finger rabbit ears, this latest in the Arthur series is a sweet look at sibling love. A must-have for flapbook and Arthur fans!,

This review is from: Arthur's New Baby Book (Great Big Board Book) (Board book)
This has been a favorite in our house for over a year. My 4 year old loves this book because (1)it is an Arthur book and (2)it is a lift-the-flap book. This book is a great gift for a new big brother or sister. One of the pages shows the new baby crying for several different reasons. By lifting the flaps you find out what made the baby stop crying (sleep, food, fresh diaper.) I liked the pages of nursery rhymes. There are over 40 flaps to open and several wiggle fingers (put your fingers through holes and wiggle them to make ears or legs). Bottom line is that this book is a safe bet for the toddler set!

Excellent for new siblings!,
This review is from: Arthur's New Baby Book (Great Big Board Book) (Board book)
My daughter received this book from her grandparents in anticipation of the birth of her baby brother. The story itself is interesting and warm-hearted, but the lift up flaps will undoubtedly hold the most appeal. Parents may want to supervise the initial reading of the book as some of the flaps are difficult to lift the first time and shaped in a way that may tear if not handled gently (I speak from first hand experience!)

Our favorite "new baby" book,

I bought about 6 books when we were expecting our son to help prepare my 2 1/2 year old daughter. She wasn't really interested in the idea of a brother. This book is still a favorite of hers. We have read it many many times - a favorite bedtime book. She enjoys acting out the parts where D.W. (Arthur's sister) says "Babies are Boring!" and also enjoys the nursery rhyme section where she can put her fingers through the holes to make the spiders' legs. The book aided in recognizing the letters of the alphabet by sight and as with most children - the flaps are a great way to keep them involved in the story. The book is sturdy and fun and has a great message. I look forward to sharing it with my son now that we are expecting our third child. This is a great addition to your children's library and makes a wonderful gift.
