Oh, Oh, If Only...,
By George Buttner "Agent0042" (Dayton, Ohio United States) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Arthur's School of Hard Knocks (DVD)
... This DVD had been released a little later. This is one of the last "Arthur" DVDs released under Sony Wonder and one of the last to not include any special features. The only thing on this that could in any way be considered a special feature is the promos for other "Arthur" DVDs. That said, the cover art is pretty good, although the menu art is only so-so. Let's take a look at the story selection:
"Arthur vs. the Very Mean Crossing Guard" - Overall, a very good "Arthur" story. Some feel that the crossing guard is too cruel, but this one has a lot of good gags in it, including scary baboons who warn Arthur and Brain that the "goons" will be along later. "Buster Makes the Grade" - Pretty good story focusing on Buster needing to get a B+ on a test to get to the fourth grade. Of course, it's all academic, since on the show, Arthur and his friends always stay in third grade on the show, but there a lot of funny bits on this too. "D.W., All Fired Up" - The best story of the batch here, easily. D.W. learns that there's going to be a fire drill at her preschool and gets all sorts of crazy ideas and doesn't want to come to school. Some very important lessons on fire safety and a lot of good humor as well.
