I am an Aussie with no knowledge of or interest in soccer. This book is about so much more than that. I got sucked into it and suddenly started caring about teams I didnt know winning a game I never watch. I loved every moment reading this book. Russell Brand is such an amazing writer, it is worth reading this to hear what he has to say and how he's going to say it. He has a beautiful way of phrasing and viewing things in ways others wouldn't. Very intelligent, sometimes too intelligent for me, I read this book with a dictionary handy.
The book is also really nicely presented.

I couldn't get into it...,
This review is from: Articles of Faith (Hardcover)
If you're a Russell Brand fan AND have a love for football (soccer) then you may like this. It's my own fault for not reading the description, I thought this was the book I'd heard about but the one I wanted was actually My Booky Wook. I decided to try and give it a chance but it just wasn't interesting to me at all and couldn't hold my attention. Others may like it but there was just way too much soccer in it for my taste.

Super funny and entertaining,

Greatly enjoyed Brand's columns every Saturday on the back page of The Guardian's sports section - why did they stop? Hilarious at times and surprisingly well written, they represent a unique, refreshing take on sports journalism. Fuelled by auto-biographical flashbacks and occasional "philosophical" insights, the book offers a great week-by-week portrait of the highlights of past Premier League seasons.

This book is about English football and Russel's interpretation of it. Funny sure, but not like Booky Wook.

Russell Brand is a wonderful writer and writes in a very interesting style. Book is about football but I found it interesting nonetheless. There is an underlying premise to his writings somewhat philosophical in nature, which were from his Guardian newspaper column about football in general and West Ham FC in particular. I think the book is presented in rich, color ways and I like it. It is beautifully produced and rich. If you like Russell Brand, this is for you.
