5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of Room
I bought this storage container at Wal-Mart last evening for $25.00. I thought that was a bit overpriced until I saw the same thing on Amazon for $37.74 and $33.00 for shipping. I did not even look at the label stating this was a Holiday Tree Storage Box until I got it home. To the person who complains that their Christmas Tree will not fit in this box, perhaps...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I thought
I bought two of these boxes hoping to store my pre-lit christmas tree in. The box may be big enough for a regular artifical christmas tree (the kind that you disassemble branch by branch), but it is not big enough for a pre-lit tree that comes in three pieces. I bought two thinking that the bottom piece could fit in one and the top two would fit in the other. Not even...

I bought two thinking that the bottom piece could fit in one and the top two would fit in the other. Not even close to being big enough. The boxes, however, are sturdy and I am keeping them to store other things.

I bought this storage container at Wal-Mart last evening for $25.00. I thought that was a bit overpriced until I saw the same thing on Amazon for $37.74 and $33.00 for shipping. I did not even look at the label stating this was a Holiday Tree Storage Box until I got it home. To the person who complains that their Christmas Tree will not fit in this box, perhaps measuring the collapsed tree whether it is a dissamble branch by branch or prelit model, would be the smart way to go. One cannot logically expect this box to be sizewise the all-encompassing artificial tree storage box. I imagine there are a gajillion sizes and types of artificial trees on the market. So, with that said, I purchased this box with the idea of storing all of my giftwrap related items for the whole year. What can I say, mission accomplished. I am now incredibly pleased with the price I paid last night. If this thing did not come with wheels, I would be in trouble because toting it around would be extremely difficult for my not even 5 foot frame. I have a big IRIS pet food storage container that I also got at Wal-Mart and I love it. All I can say is another great product by IRIS.

The clamping lid doesnt seem to be reliable, but it has wheels, and I found it at Walmart ugh for $30 before tax.

This is the first container that I found that my Christmas tree fits in perfectly. It came with a broken lid, but after a call to the company they replaced it immediately. Very satified.

I bought this in late December 2008 because the box that my tree came in was completely worn out after years of use. It is much larger than the original box and with the wheels on one end I thought it would make life much easier. Oh, was I wrong! This year we went down to the storage room and pulled this out only to have the lid pop open and the branches spring out all over the floor. We thought that perhaps we had knocked the locking handle out of place when pulling it out of storage so we secured it again and started up the stairs only to have it happen again. We have tried everything to get the lid to stay in place and nothing has worked. I wish I hadn't wasted my money and just gone to the effort to find a new box.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for keeping Boas and Pythons!, April 7, 2008

This plastic bin is wonderful for use as a cage for large boas and pythons and works wonders in large constrictor snake racks! I know its not what it is intended for but thats what I use it for!

I bought the Iris Christmas Tree Storage box not to store a Christmas tree, but to store the metal poles to our trampoline that we disassemble every winter so it's not getting ruined by snow. No other plastic storage box I found had the right footprint to have the poles lay flat. I own an artificial Christmas tree and will consider buying a couple of these boxes (bricks and morter store, 29 bucks) to store it in; I have been tossing pieces into old garment boxes, the kind movers use. The box is made of very sturdy plastic, but the long ends, being so long, do have some flex to them and the long sides will bow out a bit. I'm sure this is because I'm storing such heavy stuff (metal poles). I was still able to push the sides in to get the lid on and latched though.
As for it's intended purpose, tree storage, Iris says this box holds a 6' tree. I'd say if your tree is a "thin" Christmas tree and you are diligent about flattening the branches as you pack away, it will fit fine. If your tree is a fat/full/wide tree, or if you don't like squishing the branches flat, plan on getting two boxes.

This box WILL NOT fit a tree as described. Not even close. On top of that, this company never answered my e-mail asking about this fact. What a waste!
