The stories that are seldom told.,
By A Customer
This review is from: An Artilleryman's War: Gus Dey and the 2nd United States Artillery (Paperback)
This is another welcome addition to the history of those men who are generally forgotten but have played a major part in the conflict. In particular, the difference between the treatment of officers and the rest of the army is striking in the Official Records. It is therefore heartning to find works that tell the stories of these soldiers and NCOs.On a personal level, it was particularly interesting for me as my great-grandfather served with Gus Dey for many years. I found it wonderful that Peter Cavanagh has at last been remembered for his contribution to this conflict. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
