This review is from: The Artist: A Max and Annie Adventure in Imagination (Hardcover)
I bought this book at a show outside cleveland, ohio. I was enchanted. This is the first title I have read by Ms. Phillipson, but I think i can safely say that she is an inspired author.Phillipson's gentle prose breathes life into max and annie, and Takatch's illustrations make them dance. I was almost in tears at the end of the book. The artist is a beautiful story. The main characters are max and annie, two lovable springer spaniels. Annie is the older and more cautious of the two. Max is mischevious, but full of spunk. The two dogs meet an artist whose paintings come to life before their eyes. It deals with the world of imagination, and fantasy's essential role in living a life with vigor. The Artist is a wonderful book for the young and the young at heart. This is my first Phillipson read, but will not be my last. |
