One of Sandi's Best!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Artist of My Soul (Audio CD)
For a singer known for over production, this album is a surprise! The album opens quietly on the title tract and takes you through an intimate and inspiring spiritual journey. Every song on this album is worth a listen. I find myself putting on the CD and listening front to back. It is hard to find highlights when all the songs are wonderful. I think it will depend on the listener. Talking with family members going through a hard time and feelings of lonliless, the song "Always" is the favorite. I was getting married and having a mountain top year and found the ending track, "Doxology" my favorite. (I even played it at my wedding!) The unique "You Love Me" talks about how well God sees us, hears us, knows us, and yet still loves us. "Artist of My Soul" and "Breathe on Me" calls the listener to a closer relationship with the Lord. "You Set Me Free" is a song about how God's forgiveness and grace will allow you to move forward, even with a spotted past. I can't tell you how wonderful this album is. Adjectives fail!

Sandi's At The Top Of Her Form,
By A Customer
This review is from: Artist of My Soul (Audio CD)
This is one of my favorite CD's from Sandi. The arrangements are well thought out and impeccable. "You Set Me Free", and "The Artist Of My Soul" are my favorites. I believe they hired the same arranger that Streisand occasionally uses on some of her tracks. This album and "Le Voyage" (which is hard to find now) from Sandi are my favorites. I recently bought another similar CD entitled "Silver Screen Serenades" from a Contemporary Inspirational and Cabaret artist, Michael Poss. This vocalist does a version of "Unexpected Friends" originally recorded by Sandi, and it's gorgeous! It's done as a medley with the song "Where There Is Love" which was originally recorded by Jane Oliver. He also includes an original Inspirational song called "He'll Carry You". Both of these CD's make a great evening of classy music especially while you soak in the bathtub with candles all around. Their music will inspire and uplift your soul.

Artist For Our Souls!,

This review is from: Artist of My Soul (Audio CD)
Artist of My Soul by Sandi PattyLast week, a good friend, Ms. Persis Taylor handed to me a copy of Artist of My Soul. She mistakenly picked this up instead of Finest Moments. And, I'm glad she did. For anyone unfamiliar with Sandi Patty, unfamiliar with the world revolving around the sometimes-burdensome title of Contemporary Christian Artist, you're in for a treat. Ms. Patti has a gem in Artist that is extremely difficult to describe except to those who have broader musical tastes. Her classically trained voice, together with a collection of personally reflective love-songs is quietly intense, a tempest felt just above an approving whisper. Sandi Patty is a polished performer. Period. Usually, opting to hone (hide?) her craft for her (wider) audience but, Ms. Patty doesn't seem to be resting on her laurels any longer; this album is a very intriguing statement and one, which invites a closer look into what she hopes to re-define herself as simply, Sandi Patty, Artist. There's the positive- yearning to be held- known-dreaming about never ending sunsets- that Carole King spoke so eloquently about in Tapestry, in this album. Love songs sometimes reflects a writer's infatuation with reminiscing, but sometimes it's a plea not to give up: the best is yet to come, this seems the case in "Always." ("When you're feeling down/ When you?re friends are gone/ No more sadness will find us/ We'll be together and we'll be going home/ to sing about the miracle of grace") In "You Set Me Free," she seems to have redeemed the promise ("You set me free/ to run through fields of laughter/and to sing as though/ I have no yesterdays/ You set me free/ from my befores and afters... You give me wings to fly") If Ms. Patty was in the doldrums, Artist signals her resurrection. Ms. Patty extends her hands to the faithful with "Breathe On Me," and perhaps the album's best, "You Alone." Such combinations don?t always work with everyone, but when one goes through the first 7 songs of implied and explicit spiritual commentary without sounding discordant it is a mark of a successful album. It's impossible for Sandi Patty to make a bad album and if she continues to tread new waters, she'll be in the select cadre of performers whose work is justified solely by name alone.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

I got this Sandi Patty CD based on the strength of the reviews I read about it on the Amazon Web site. What a great decision! I just love this CD - every song is so uplifting and inspirational. I feel like I've been in worship after listening to it. When things are tense at work, I will pop it into my CD player and put on the headphones. The music is soothing and reminds me who the Artist of my soul is, Who is molding and shaping my life, ... and the things I'm dealing with don't seem so hard to deal with anymore. This CD is different than Sandi Patty's previous anthem-heavy ones and she doesn't hit as many of her famous high notes. The music is more intimate and worshipful, though, and it's still the wonderful Sandi Patty voice you know and love - and don't worry ... she does hit some great high notes too. If you're a Sandi Patty fan, this is a "must have". If you're not, then this is a good CD for discovering her!

For me it was a blessing. Hear how God can reshape our lives and be the Artist of our soul... it's so beatiful. Know God loves "Always" and in the finish, the Doxology, simply you can fell the glory of God through this music and Sandi's voice.

Following an understandable hiatus, this is a superb recording by an artist beyond her peers. A wide variety of songs lends to a popouri of gospel musical experiences. All are sung with a spirit of love and humility before her Lord. A must listen.

Sandi Patty comes full circle with this album. She has found again the extraordinary Voice that is so thrilling in person. This project is a single meditation on the joy and peace of finding a true identity and the "artist of the soul." Contemporary Christian albums always run the risk of trite lyrics and dull melodies. "Artist of my Soul" is a triumph of an authentic spiritual journey, a "Le Voyage" that the wounded traveler in us all can understand. This is a rare treat. Falling Forward
