This is truly one of the best artistry edition from WB , if you like The Artistry of Bill Evans 1& 2, then this is absolutly better stuff. Tuff but for real this also related to one album of Shearing (Piano) from concord Jazz, so you can learn what it should hear,,,worth more I think than Oscar Peterson note for note,,,especially shearing song book.

A must-have for anyone who wants to learn more about Shearing's solo style. I got it primarily to learn how to play that maddening little left-hand bounce that is one of George's signatures in his solo playing. I've tried to figure it out for years, and now I have some help! The chord voicings are clearly spelled and easy to read.
However, there are really no dynamic indications... only a few accent marks here and there. Due to the complexity of his textures, it ends up being a lot of notes that need interpretation... you'll need to hear the actual recordings. But alas, there is no discography as to which recordings were used for the transcriptions (Mostly from the album Grand Piano). All in all, a very good book and highly recommended. A million thanks to Bob Hinz and all the hard work that went into this.
