Full of simple arts and crafts for toddlers and preschool children "The Arts and Crafts Busy Book" is a great resource. In total there are 365 basic crafts grouped into 12 chapters. Some of the areas covered include coloring, painting, printmaking, modeling, sculpting, nature arts and crafts, educational arts and crafts, and holiday arts and crafts. Each craft is laid out in cookbook style listing all the materials required first and then the instructions for completing the craft. Easy, fun activities for preschool children, "The Arts and Crafts Busy Book" is highly recommended for anyone who deals with young children.

I have been a first grade teacher for 12 years, so I really know arts and crafts books inside and out. This is an outstanding book. What sets this book apart from all of the other craft books out there is Trish's aversion to doing crafts with kids. She wrote that she just wasn't that into it. Therefore, she has written a book that has projects that require VERY little adult help, are easy, have little clean up, and best of all ~ they are really FUN for kids! I just open the book, read what is on the page, and set my 5 and 6 year old to work. For example, one day I opened the book and my kids found themselves at the kitchen table with mini marshmallows and toothpicks, building. Clean up for me: a few toothpicks on the floor. (and a week later sneaking it into the trash) They had a blast for the whole evening doing that. This is my favorite Arts and Crafts book. Really, her whole series is great, but I would start with this one. Happy Non Crafting!

This book is great! There's never a dull moment when you have Kuffner's Busy Books around! My tot loves the ideas! I loved the whole Busy Box concept and he has a lot of fun exploring it too! Great idea, great buy, thanks Trish!

This book offers many good ideas for parents to do with their kids. I think it would be more helpful if it includes photos of the finished products. Even though I own this book, I usually go to crafting blogs or family magazines for arts and crafts ideas because they have photos of the process and finished products.

This book was not what I thought. Activities are very basic and it is a small paperback book without many illustrations, so it's up to you to figure out the descriptions.

I have three of her books & I love them all! This is a great resource for both parents and caregivers. I have worked with kids for over ten years, and there are still things in here I have tabbed. =) You wont regret buying these books.

I own three of the books in this series, and I have honestly tried really hard to make them useful for our family. I have a four year-old and a one year-old, and I am a stay-at-home mom planning to homeschool. I thought that these books would really help me fill our days with fun, but I have only implemented a few of the activities. I look through the books regularly but find that the activities require quite a lot of prep work for how much "fun" is had by the children -- I don't immediately have the supplies and preparing them takes time too. When I have tried things out, the kids are interested for a few minutes, and then they're done. Many of the activities are just too narrow in their focus to sustain my children for long. Or not child-led enough. I'm not sure. It just doesn't click for us.

For parents of young children looking to enrich their lives, I would instead recommend reading "Heaven on Earth" by Sharifa Oppenheimer. She talks a lot about young child development and what kind of open-ended activities are really healthy and joyful for these little ones — things like crayon drawing, sand play, and watercolor. I know these things may seem too obvious on the surface, but WOW they have been powerfully fun for our family! The kids aren't just "occupied," they are truly engaged with this type of imaginative, open-ended sensory creation and play.
