Editorial Reviews

Desaster formed in 1988, inspired by bands like Black Sabbath, Venom, Destruction, Celtic Frost, Bathory, and Slayer. Merciless Records released a split-7 with Ungod in 1995, the band s vinyl-debut. In 1996 the first album A Touch of Medieval Darkness was released which was quickly followed up by 1997 s Stormbringer mini-album. The band celebrated its 10th anniversary in late 1999 with the Ten Years of Total Desaster double LP, again a vinyl-only release. After performances in Germany, England, Finland, Ireland, Sweden, The Netherlands, Switzerland and other countries, a mini-tour through Croatia, Serbia, Hungary, Austria, and Slovenia and the South American Tour through Brazil, Peru, and Colombia, the band released a 12 vinyl single called Infernal Voices with one new song, the re-recorded Fields of Triumph and a cover version of Unleashed s Before the Creation of Time . In May 2007 Desaster entered the Harrows Studio, Holland to record the sixth studio album Satan s Soldiers Syndicate. It features guest appearances by Proscriptor and Ashmedi.

In 2009 the band celebrated their 20th anniversary with a box set which includes both demos and most of their special release-songs on 3 Pic LPs and 4 new songs on an etched MLP. In 2010 a split-7 with a Japanese black metal masters Sabbat and a shape-7 with a Death-cover version on the Dutch label Soulseller Records, were released. The vinyl version of Sabbatical Desasterminator followed.

Desaster s 7th album called The Arts of Destruction will be released in February 2012. Recorded at Toxo Music Studios, mixed and mastered at Temple of Disharmony, this piece of darkened, hellish Heavy Metal shows you the unique and un-modern sound of the band. You can expect a non compromising, head crushing Metal bullet without mercy! Beware and be prepared for sharp riffs, pounding drums, roaring bass and screaming hell....

This is a lethal combination of black metal and thrash. There are lots of bands out there trying this sound now, but I think Desaster is one of the best. I like my music more on the thrashy side and they deliver. I actually found their prior release to be a little lacking in the songwriting and riffs, but they are back on track with this one. I still don't think they have outdone their 'Angelwhore' release, though.

Pure brutality, pure skill, pure talent, pure power. This album is awesome and does not let up one bit, each song can be played and listed to right through and keep the listener completely entertained the whole way. Awesome job, money well spent! Hails!!! PURE METAL!! \m/\m/
