Fads, fads, fads,

This review is from: Arts and Entertainment Fads (Encyclopedia of Fads, Volume I) (Hardcover)
Although none of the fads are analyzed in depth, the listing of all the fads that have come and gone is still impressive (though they missed a couple, like Jaws and UFOs). This listing drives home the fact that our society seems to be subjected to waves of fads, as often as the waves on the beach. Although most historians will ignore fads, focusing instead on the usual politicians and generals, they do affect society. The only formal histories that I have ever read that do seriously include fads in their narration were Since Yesterday and Only Yesterday, both classics.
