The Arts Equation: Forging a Vital Link Between Performing Artists and Educators [Paperback]

Bruce D. Taylor (Author)

Available from these sellers.

Book Description

May 1, 1999
Anyone involved in education will gain valuable guidance form this idea-filled exploration of how schools and performing arts organizations can work together in mutually beneficial programs.

While funding for the arts declines, there is also an awakening regard for the need for arts in the education of well-rounded human beings. By presenting specific programs for artists’s visits to schools and school trips to performing arts institutions, this timely guide shows how to interface within tight budgets and informs emerging standards of the federal Goals 2000 program.

About the Author

Bruce D. Taylor, an educator, production manager and stage director, describes himself as a bridge between schools and his colleagues. A behind-the-scenes working professional in the theater for over 25 years, his avocation was to work with kids and their teachers. That passion eventually led to the creation of Arts for Anyone, launched in 1994 by Taylor “to demonstrate how the arts are important to basic education.” His work in the field of arts education has been cited by the Harvard Graduate School of Education as among the “best conceived and well-run arts education projects in the country.” He has been a consultant for the Metropolitan opera Guild and the New York Philharmonic, among many others, as well as serving as the Program Director of Arts for Anyone, the organization he founded to enhance arts education by bringing artists and schools together. Taylor lives in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.
