I appreciate the book and the research it represents in a real way: I am a musician and a music teacher in an elementary school. The book is basically an explanation of the research that is available about the importance of the Arts in education.
Most of the summary concerns a specific study centered around Britain but mirrors the US approach closely. IF you are someone looking to read about reasons why the Arts in education are important, I think this book is worth the purchase price. It is NOT written as a narrative so you kind of have to jump around to find the things you are fighting for specifically, but certainly a VERY welcome addition to the literature supporting creativity and the Arts in schools.

Important Ideas We Have Thrown Away,

Sir Ken Robinson, in this important early report in the UK, focuses on the importance of arts in the school curriculum. In our mad rush to high-stakes testing in the US, we have lost the third language, tha language of performance. Literacy and numeracy are only two of three essential human languages. We ignore the arts at our and our children's peril.
