I ordered 4 rolls to do 2 windows (some of the pics posted are mine) and sadly there wasnt enough. Still tho, just absolutely gorgeous, looks lovely from both inside and out. I used it on a window by my front door, nothing irks me more than people gawking in an open window b4 they get to the door to knock and my home i old and the window is low and tho I live on a farm I swear if someone had binoculars they could see right in. This stuff CURES that issue. I now love getting up in the am, knowing I have privacy and it just changes the whole atmosphere of the room and ads cheer. I left a few creative gaps so I could still peek out if need be, and it wouldnt be that hard to cut peeky holes in.
It comes on a roll, sadly there are no straight lines/grid or anything to help you cut it so I just took it off the roll and took a straight edge (like a box cutter) around where I wanted it. I used 4 rolls and the pattern is consistant and not that hard to line up with a little patience. And you just spray water to afix it and then smooth out the bubbles, how easy is that? (tho the bubbles can be stubborn!) I live in FL so I do believe this is thick enough to also help a little with the a/c bill and deflecting glare at certain times of day. The material feels like one of those translucent pool rafts you can get for 3 bucks at wally word...in fact Im thinking of getting one and doing the same thing with it to fill in the top part of the window. BE WARENED, tho I live in a very humid climate when you pull the vinly off the paper backing there is LOTS of static! If you thought your dryer with out a dryer sheet was bad, just get your hands on this stuff! LOL It does a NICE JOB of blocking the view both way, cutting down glare, sunlite and ugly views but at night with lights on a person on the outide could see shawdowy movement, but that was (see pics) with 3 lamps on each with a 90 watt bulb-so it does really give privacy. Ive also have several rolls ordered a different pattern, CHEAPER for some windows in another room. I really like this, after looking and LOOKING for curtains, well forget them, this is the cure and it wont collect dust like curtains do! I think its lovely and ads lots of character, but I cannot give it 5 stars due to the lack of english on the box, no grid or lines to help cutting on the backing paper, and what I consider to be a very high price (aka OVERPRICED) for something that is lovely, but that you get so very little of, esp. when MOST people have REAL sized windows, esp. when you see that its nothing more than raft material/vinyl and you KNOW they are mass producing it, so that part is most def a rip off. :( But would I buy it again or more of it, you betcha! If you really look around you can find it cheaper than here, or on here at a cheaper price. :)

Artscape "Wisteria" Stained-Glass-Look Window Film,
By
This review is from: Wisteria Window Film 24-by-36-Inch (Tools & Home Improvement)
Several years ago, I bought this window film because we had a 2nd-story bedroom with a rather unattractive view, plus it need some shielding from summer sun. I put this stained-glass look window film on the bottom half of the old-fashioned windows (we live in a Victorian), and it was absolutely perfect. It was better than curtains alone on that window, because we could see the sky out of the top half of the window, and still have that beautiful stained glass appearance (it's amazing how realistic that is). It was an echo of part of our outdoor theme too, as we have wisteria growing right below that window! It's time for me to replace mine (after 6 years of *very hot* summer sun), so I will be purchasing this exact item again.

Wisteria by Artscape - absolutely beautiful,

This is my favorite of all the window films. It's easy to apply, super realistic (and I'm a stickler about that) and it's incredibly beautiful. I have a different pattern pasted into an antique window that's hanging over our new double pane vinyl windows (that you can't apply anything to) and we get compliments all the time. I used this design in the bathroom of the cottage I was living in, and it caught my breath every time I saw it, not to mention gave much needed privacy. I'll post the pic of my bathroom window.

Poor installation instructions,

If you purchase this then ignore the instructions on how to measure. You need to add at least 1cm to your length and width measurements, because when you remove the film from the backing paper it shrinks in by that much. We did not do this and have ended up with a gap on each side. Will need to re-purchase and re-do at a later stage.

I read several reviews about the film and was particularly concerned when I read that the film shrank when one individual installed it.I got mine in the mail today and installed it on my double hung window in the bathroom. Total time was approximately 15 minutes, including the time it took to wash the window. It did NOT shrink, at all. I am very happy with the product. No stretching or anything like that as you pull it off the backing. It's not adhesive so you don't have to worry about it sticking to you as you pull it off the backing either. The instructions were simple and very easy to follow. My window film went on really well. The ONLY thing that I would REALLY like to see is a grid on the backing so you know you're cutting a straight line. I will most likely submit a picture when I get the other piece up (the two windows are 44" long, this is only 36" - duh on me) but I am VERY happy with how well it went up. It filters the light nicely and I actually stopped to admire it walking into the room. I highly recommend this product. (Of course if it peels off I'll be posting that too!) ETA: We did have one lower corner of this peel up. Maybe about an inch tall and a couple inches, just the corner kind of shriveled. I kept looking at it and saying "I'll fix it..." By the time I got around to it the film was warped and won't go back down. With two of these I had enough to do a 44" long window and my much smaller upstairs bathroom window. Now that it's dark when I get home I will say that it looks very pretty from the outside with the light coming through. Even with the issue(s) we had, I would still recommend this and still buy more.

It is so much better than the pictures. I live in a cottage guest house with shabby chic styling. I was not sure it would go well, but my goodness, it has transformed my shabby chic to elegant chic! It was very easy to install, now when the sun shines in, the room is aglow with the magnificant colors! I left the top section on my living room window uncovered so I can still see the moon at night! I also put it on my entry door. It gives me the privacy I wanted, but still allows the light to pour in with all it's splender. I recently had guests over and they loved the look too. I would most definately recommend this product.

I recently purchased a home that has the misfortune of being situated next to a hovel full of exceptionally trashy neighbors. This window film was absolutely perfect for blocking our view of that house while still letting in sunlight. I was rather nervous to put this up at first, wondering if it would end up looking as tacky as the cardboard boxes and blankets the next-door neighbors have hanging in their windows. ;) However, once the film was up I was really amazed at how pretty it was with the sun shining through it. It really does look like stained glass. It's not three-dimensional, of course, but it's a remarkably accurate reproduction of a three-dimensional picture.
I wish the film came in larger rolls, though, and I also wish this particular pattern was a little easier to match up. I needed two rolls of film for half of one window, which consisted of six 9" x 17" panes. It took about 45 minutes to put all six squares of film up, from cleaning the window to measuring, cutting and positioning the film. It's surprisingly easy to put up and reposition, but cut each piece about 1/4" larger than you need it. It's a lot easier than cutting it too short and having to cut and position extra slivers of film to cover the empty space! If you're like me and have an atrocious view that you'd like to block but don't want to keep your curtains shut all the time, I highly recommend this film. It looks way better than you think it will - I promise!

Very beautiful but one issue,

I was going to buy this product on Amazon. However, I found this same wisteria window film at a local Home Depot, which also carries other Artscape designs (such as the Magnolia Window Film 24-by-36-Inch, Clematis Window Film 24-by-36-Inch, Rice Paper Window Film 24-by-36-Inch, and more). Home Depots in Houston are selling the window film for $19.97 per roll, which is a better deal than Amazon if you consider Amazon's shipping and handling costs. Hopefully your local home improvement store will give you a better deal too. As stated in other reviews, the wisteria pattern is beautiful, and it really adds character to a house. Installation is easy, but I agree that it should have a grid on the back of the paper to help with cutting. This issue is minor, though, because installation is still super easy. The only major issue I experienced is a color-matching problem between the rolls. I bought four rolls from one Home Depot and two rolls from a different Home Depot to cover three windows (two rolls per window). The four rolls I bought together match each other, but they are slightly darker than the two rolls I bought from the second Home Depot (the two rolls match each other). I guess there can be a color variation between print batches. I fixed this problem by making sure sure I didn't use the two different shades on one window. You can't tell that one window is slightly lighter than the other two windows. The color variation is only noticeable if you use the films right next to each other. I suggest buying all the rolls from one store location at the same time to have the best chance at getting the same shade. Not sure if Amazon has this problem, but I would buy all the rolls you need in one purchase. Despite the color difference issue, I am still giving this product five stars because it really makes the house look great. I was hesitant about using the window film, but I was really happy with the results after completing the first window.

Wisteria Window Film 24-by-36-Inch
A neighbor put up a bright, high garage light that shined into our front door fan window and directly onto a mirror on the opposite wall creating a glare problem. The Wisteria Window Film came to our rescue. It was easy to cut and place on the window and created a beautiful, but practical, way to diffuse this glare while making our fan window a masterpiece of art by itself. We love it. |
