5.0 out of 5 stars Great Bird Feeder
We had a feeder like this for many years until my husband dropped it and it shattered from age. I immediately sent for another. It holds alot of seed, is protected from rain by the lid. The birds love it and the squirrels cannot get to it. It really works. It's a great product!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Feeder with One Flaw
I have had a couple of these feeders and they are wonderful for repelling rain and squirrels (if mounted properly). The big flaw is the plastic is not very tough and, if the feeder falls to the ground, it usually shatters. I have put more than one back together with duct tape, but I would love to see this type of feeder made with a bit sturdier construction material.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Durable, December 30, 2007

3 days after I received it the wind knocked it off the chain and it fell to the ground and shattered! I guess $60 dosen't buy unbreakable plastic.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Feeder But Needs Stronger Construction, May 24, 2009

I'm going to reiterate what a number of other reviewers have stated. Conceptually this is a great feeder that gives my backyard squirrels the fits. The downside is the feeder's fragility. When empty a 4 foot fall onto grass cracked both the baffle and the tub. If it had been full it no doubt would have shattered. This perplexed me as I have 2 mandarin baffles that I purchased years ago for other feeders. These have survived worse falls with no damage. When comparing them I can see the older ones are noticeably thicker. The V wire that attaches the tub to the baffle is also much too thin. If you lift a full tub holding one side of the V it bends out of shape. If you want to fill this feeder with sunflower seed consider getting the the portal opening version that has perches instead of a tray as the tray soon fills with husks. The large seed capacity cries out for more robust construction. I love this feeder but I wish it was built to last.

4.0 out of 5 stars The birds love it!, March 25, 2006
This review is from: Arundale 360 Sky Cafe Wild Bird Feeder (Lawn & Patio)
I placed the bird feeder off my deck, which is high enough so I can see it from my sunroom. There have been lots of birds use it, and in all our rain the food has not gotten wet.
I'm anticipating that the construction will be such to last for many years.

This is a good product, but it could be a GREAT product if the openings for the seed to come out were bigger. As a result it is not a good feeder for things such as nuts or sunflower seeds. They get jammed at the small openings and as a result the birds stop coming to the feeder when they no longer can reach the food.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Squirrel-Proof Feeder Available, January 4, 2009

I bought one of these feeders for myself about 5 years ago, and it is the best squirrel-proof feeder that I have found. Exceptionally talented squirrels can jump horizontally into the narrow space between the roof and tray, but only if it is quite close to a tree or wall. Most squirrels crash a few times and then make due cleaning up what the birds dump on the ground. They can't access it by coming down the chain from above. The feeder also holds so much seed (about 6-7 lbs.) that you don't need to refill it often. I love this feeder and recently purchased a second one as a gift. You'll make up the cost in saved seed within a few months.

love the feeder. this however is my last one. the design is great for the birds, but the plexiglass is brittle and breaks easily. a drop of the feeder shatters the feeder. have broken 2 in 2 years. love the feeder but the product is not durable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, Holds A Lot of Seed, January 19, 2009
This review is from: Arundale 360 Sky Cafe Wild Bird Feeder (Lawn & Patio)
Although I am a bit concerned about reviewer reports that this feeder tends to shatter if it hits the ground, I bought it anyway, mostly attracted by the fact that it holds a large volume of seed. I am also very pleased with the design including the generous cover that does a fairly good job of keeping rain off the seed. Most, but not all, of the birds who were using my more traditional feeder have adapted to this one (but not the doves or the red-bellied woodpeckers). Its open design makes it very easy to clean thoroughly; much easier to clean than a classic tube feeder. Duncraft sells a locking chain that could be used to secure this feeder to tree branches or feeding station poles ([..]).

5.0 out of 5 stars "Green" Bird Feeder, July 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Arundale 360 Sky Cafe Wild Bird Feeder (Lawn & Patio)
The feeders are made from 100% recycled Plexiglas. It is second generation material, regrind, as it is called in the industry. The company is very proud to be able to do something "green." If the feeder was made from "virgin" material, it would have a lot more resilience, i.e. bounce. Using regrind, the downside is that when the feeder is knocked or dropped, it is more likely to be damaged. It has a lifetime warranty so they replace the parts for free and consider replacing those parts the price they pay for being conscientious about the environment.

These are molded in Fenton, Missouri by a small family business, since 1975.
